38 Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God

Last updated 8/15/15 this study is two pages long

Some say if Christ is the power and wisdom of God in 1 Corinthians 1:24 then he must also be God.
On the face of it this might seem like a valid argument, however I will show that this interpretation is an incorrect
conclusion and that 1 Corinthians 1:24 does NOT show Jesus to be God.
Your question to ask will be, is the final conclusion supported and proven by the rest of the study?
Whether you agree or disagree, in part or in whole, big or small, please email me any feedback to help improve this
study. I would also appreciate any help with its logic, grammar, typos, editing etc.
Before analyzing the passage in question in 1 Corinthians 1:24, and the relationship of Christ with God, I am going to
provide some evidence that has to be taken into account when interpreting our passage.
Part 1 The Power of God
Part 2 The Wisdom of God
Part 3 1 Corinthians 1:24

Part 1 The Power of God

Here are a few specific points regarding the "Power of God?"
Luke 22:69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.
70 So they all said, Are you the Son of God, then? And he said to them, You say that I am.
Jesus will be sat next to the "Power of God," so we have Jesus and we have the "Power of God," two distinct
things.
2 Corinthians 13:4 For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we also are weak
in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.
Jesus lives only by the "power of God." If Jesus did not have it he would die.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who
believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek
Paul tells us that the gospel is the "power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved
it is the power of God.
The word of the cross, to us, is the power of God.

Summary:
Luke 22:69
2 Corinthians 13:4

Jesus will be sat next to the Power of God

Jesus lives only by the "power of God"

Romans 1:16
1 Corinthians 1:18

Paul tells us that the gospel is the "power of God."

the word of the cross, to us, is the power of God.

At the time of Luke, Jesus was predicted to sit at the side of the "Power of God."

At the time 2 Corinthians was written Jesus lived, and still does, by the power of God. Because Jesus cannot sustain his
own life fifty years after the crucifixion without the "Power of God," if "The Power of God" decided that Jesus should
die then he would. This being the case, Jesus is definitely not God.
For us the gospel is the power of God, and the word of the cross is the power of God.

Part 2 The Wisdom of God

Here are three passages regarding the "Wisdom of God."
1 Kings 3:28 And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the
king, because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.
King Solomon was known to have the wisdom of God in him.
1 Corinthians 2:7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for
our glory.
Paul was able, along with others apparently, to impart a hidden wisdom of God
Ephesians 3:10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the
rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
The wisdom of God would be made known through the church, the body of believers.
Summary:
In the OT King Solomon had the wisdom of God
In the NT Paul and the church body were able to impart and teach the wisdom of God

Part 3 1 Corinthians 1:24

1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the
wisdom of God.
Christ used both the power and wisdom of God when he was on the earth.
Summary:
We know from many scriptures that Jesus used the power of God to do the miracles, and that he was given all authority
in heaven and on the earth. We also know that the words Jesus spoke were, and are, the words of God his Father not his
own. Jesus wisdom is Gods wisdom as it from the words he heard his Father say to him.

Summaries and Final Conclusion:

Part 1 Luke 22:69
Jesus will be sat next to the Power of God
2 Corinthians 13:4
Jesus lives only by the "power of God"
Romans 1:16
1 Corinthians 1:18

Paul tells us that the gospel is the "power of God."

Part 3 We know from many scriptures that Jesus used the power of God to do the miracles, and that he was given
all authority in heaven and on the earth. We also know that the words Jesus spoke were, and are, the words
of God his Father. Jesus wisdom is Gods wisdom as it from the words he heard his Father say to him.
Final Conclusion:
The "power of God" is predicted in Luke to be the place Jesus will be next to, Jesus also lives by that same power. The
gospel and the word of the cross is the "Power of God," therefore it seems that God has revealed his power through
those sources.
The "wisdom of God" is something that King Solomon had, which Paul and the believers in the early church had.
For Jesus Christ to also be said to have, or be, or able to impart, the "power of God" and the "wisdom of God" is not
difficult for anyone to believe.
As far as I understand there are not many that use this passage to show Jesus is God due to the lack of strength from
that viewpoint. If you have something I have missed, please let me know.
Because of the points stated here, nothing in 1 Corinthians 1:24 says Jesus is God.
