Executive Summary

This report provides a thorough analysis on the MAGGI Instant Noodles product lines, the
external environment of MAGGI Instant Noodles and the marketing strategies of this product
in Malaysia.
The three product lines of MAGGI Instant Noodles are soup-based instant noodles, dry-based
instant noodles and MAGGI Hot Cup. The price, weight and pack sizes of each flavour is
summarised in a table form. The flavourings of MAGGI Instant Noodles are Royale Korean
Spicy Beef, Royale Penang Seafood Curry, chicken, curry, Curry Letup, Tom Yam and Asam
Laksa.
Furthermore, the flavours, price, weight and pack sizes of CINTAN Instant Noodles and
MAMEE Instant Noodles are also summarized and tabulated.
Environmental Analysis
A research is conducted on the micro and macro environments of MAGGI Instant Noodles.
The external environment of MAGGI Instant Noodles includes consumer, competitor,
supplier, economy, demography and sociocultural environment.
There are many competitors of MAGGI Instant Noodles. Based on the findings in Tesco
hypermarket, the two closest competitors of MAGGI Instant Noodles are CINTAN and
MAMEE Instant Noodles. They are very similar to MAGGI Instant Noodles in terms of
flavours, prices, packaging and marketing strategies.
There are also other factors which contribute to the sales and future growth of MAGGI
Instant Noodles, which are consumers preferences, prices of raw materials, Malaysias
economic outlook, and health concerns of instant noodles.
The threats and opportunities that arise from the environmental analysis are also identified.
For instance, the growing concern of nutritional value of instant noodles is one of the biggest
threat to this industry. On the other hand, decrease in prices of raw materials such as wheat
and palm oil will benefit the Nestl Company because of the reduction in production cost of
MAGGI Instant Noodles.

Last but not least, at the end of this analysis, some recommendations were made. This
includes changing MAGGI Instant Noodles into a highly nutritious and healthy Whole meal
dinner concept, reducing the use of preservatives by replacing the normal packages with
vacuum packaging, finding substitutes of MSG and air-frying the noodles to reduce the fat
content of MAGGI Instant Noodles.
