Facts:
On 23rd of January, 1913, Francisco Mendoza, while engage in examining his sugar crop growing upon
his lands in the barrio of Irucan, in the Municipality of Taal, Province of Bantangas, was asked by the
accused and his wife to approach them. Upon nearing the accused they have a heated argument about the
line, thus the accused drew a knife and struck Mendoza.
On the attempt on striking Mendoza, Mendoza was cut in the left hand. The accused continue striking
Mendoza, resulting to three wounds.
Issue:
Whether or not the accused is liable to indemnify Mendoza by rendering useless condition of his finger?
Ruling:
It is ruled and agreed that one of the fingers of the left was rendered useless by the act of the accused. It
does not matter which finger it was. But it was the result of the act of the accused, it is not important the
contention of the accused from the natural and ordinary result of his crime.
