ABSTRACT
This case study was conducted to review the aspects of spelling errors
made by Year 6 pupils in essay writing. In addition, the researchers
also reviewed the causes of spelling errors with non-linguistic factors
such as attitudes, dialects, the reading materials and also the teachers.
The subject consists of five pupils and the are the samples for this case
study. The researchers gave a set of questions and found out the
samples made some errors in the usage of prefix and suffix, compound
and complex words, pronouns and derivatives. Most of the errors
occurred due to their mothers tongue interference.on of the suggestion
in order to improve these errors is to be able to focus on well-planned
of teaching Malay grammar. Introduce the latest modules on teaching
Malay grammar to the teachers in order for them to be prepared to
teach the pupils. The researchers hope that these suggestions can be
practiced so that the pupils could minimize the spelling errors. This is
to ensure that the teachers could convey their lesson in more effective
ways.
