Come explore the outdoors! Get dirty, get wet,

but most of all have fun! Children will get to
decorate their own camp shirt. A snack will be
provided each day. Participants are responsible
for their own lunches. A health form must be
completed prior to the start of camp.
Camp fee $50.
Littles: 6-8 year olds

Middles: 9-10 year olds
Bigs: 11-12 year olds

Warblers for Beginners
Thursday, May 7; 7:00-8:30pm
Confused by all the colorful, tiny birds fluttering
around you? We will be discussing the identifying
characteristics of the common warblers currently
migrating through the area. (dn)
Bird Banding and Brunch
Saturday, May 23 or May 30
8:00-10:00am
Start your morning with the birds! This is your
chance to see migrating birds up close! They will be
identified, banded and released. Afterwards, head
back to the Wilson Nature Center for a light brunch!

Meet at Countryside Park: Main Office
Learn about bird banding research in a wetland area
and visit the oldest duck club in North America.

Canoe with Eagles

Friday May 1; Monday, May 4; Wednesday,
May 6; Friday, May 8; 5:00-8:00pm
Meet at the Countryside Park: Main Office
Enjoy a canoe trip along Green Creek and through
Decoy Marsh in search of bald eagles. Along the way
discuss the history of our area marshes. Must register
with a partner. Registration required by calling
419-334-4495. Online registration not available for

Meet at the Countryside Park: Main Office
We will caravan to private property along the
Sandusky River. Bring your binoculars and field
guides to check off the birds & flowers we identify.

North Coast Inland Trail-Clyde
Calling all hikersour goal is to hike all 26 miles
of the North Coast Inland Trail! Its a lot of hiking
and a lot more fun as a group. We have incentives &
free gifts to keep you motivated. Bring your favorite
device for journaling so we can chronicle each mile!

Hands-on Science: Fish Trap Survey
Saturday, May 16; 2:00-3:00pm
Learn more about Park District research up close and
personal with Tom Kashmer. Traps will be checked
and the fish will be identified and documented before
release. (tk)
Stream Quality Monitoring
Thursday May 21, 6:30-8:30pm
Wolf Creek Canoe Launch
An important indicator of our environments health is
water quality, which can be determined by surveying
the creatures that live in the river. We will be walking
into the Sandusky River, dress to get wet. No opentoed shoes. A change of clothes and towel are
suggested. (dh)
Wild Turkeys
Friday May 22, 5:30-7:30pm
Ringneck Ridge

Wild Turkeys are a conservation success story for
Ohio! Explore turkey habitat as we discover more
about these once extirpated species. Other groundnesting birds will also be discussed. (dh)

For seniors who want a little bit of
exercise and a little bit of nature, join us

Meet at Tea Kaufman Homestead
Explore the wetland habitats at Tea Kaufman and
Shelley Wetland for frogs and toads. Learn how to
identify different species and to conduct your own

Each week we will read a chapter from the book
Adventures of Tom Sawyer, then we will relive that
experience through a hands-on activity. Attendance at
all four sessions will give you the best experience. For
ages 6 to 12 years. (lr)
Wander A New Park

Sugar Creek Reserve
Meet in the parking lot of Schedel Arboretum to
caravan to our newest park. Well explain the history
of this park as we wander through the riparian
corridor. Hiking trails are not established, please wear
pants, long sleeves & sturdy shoes. Insect repellent is

Breakfast & Book: A Sand County Almanac

Enjoy preparing breakfast over the wood cook stove
and discuss a chapter in the book A Sand County

Summer is a great time to observe insects! North
America is home to 90,000 different species-well
keep track of how many species we find, observe their
feeding habits and discuss their life cycles. (dh)
Come enjoy a pirate themed day of fun at White Star

Park! We will have games and prizes and best of all,
there is no admission for the beach for the entire day!
Come back in the evening to enjoy a Movie in the
Park. We will be showing Pirates of the Caribbean:
Curse of the Black Pearl. No registration required.

Canoeing 101

White Star Park: Quarry

This is your chance to learn how to canoe during this
4 night class. We provide the canoes, paddles & life
jackets. We will use the shallow entrance of the beach
for easier entrance in & out of the canoes. Learn
parts of a canoe, proper use of paddles, agility, safety,
including a tip test, and fun games. Please bring a
change of clothes, bathing suits, towels & shoes that
can get wet. Must be at least 12 years old. (dh)
Arachnology!

Yep, its all about spiders!! Learn basic spider info,
what kinds are found in Ohio as well as their life
histories. Be prepared to walk the trails as we catch
and release spiders for a close-up look! (dh)

Monarch Tagging
Monarchs are starting their journey south. Help
collect, tag and release these marathon travelers. (tk)
Programs for Kids

First Annual Kids Bird Banding
Saturday, May 16; 8:00-9:00am;
Come discover what its like to be a migrating bird!
Participants will be captured, weighed and measured. Everyone will receive their own unique
identification band then be released. We will be
able to track you during following years with your

Bring a blanket to sit on as we learn about frogs and

textures in nature as we wander along the trail.

Butterflies

Blue Heron Reserve
Bring a blanket to sit on as we learn about the
butterflies in the reserve through stories
and puppets. We will even try to catch and release

Grandkids Canoe Float

things in nature, but did you know they can be the
same? Join us for this fun and interesting hike. (lr)

Join us as we go on a bug hunt and learn about these
little creatures. Bring your own bug box and net or

Adventure out at sunset to see what kinds of critters

Monarch Magic
Learn about the life cycle and struggle for survival of
the Monarch butterfly. We will observe their different
life stages and show you how to help these beautiful
