amountofnewandchallenginginformationwillincreasethroughouttheschoolyearas
studentsmasterroutinesandtimemanagement.Thestudentplannerthatyourchild
willbebringinghomeeverynightwillhaveassignmentswehavedoneinclassaswell
asnotesaboutwhenwewillhavetestsandwhenhomeworkisdue.Pleaselookatthe
plannereverynightsothatyouknowwhatyourchildisdoingandwillbedoingeach
day.

ClassWork
Workmustbedoneinpencilandmustbeneat.Ifitisnotneatorisincomplete,itwill
needtoberedoneeitherathomeoratrecess.Iftimeisnotusedwiselyinclass,
studentswillbringworkhomeforhomework.Appropriateamountsoftimearegivento
studentstocompleteallworkinclass.

Waterbottles:
Youmayhaveawaterbottleintheclassroom.Waterbottleswillbestoredbythesink
andfilledatappropriatetimes.Studentswillusehandsignalstoaskforadrinkofwater
duringinstructiontimes,butmaygetadrinkduringtransitions.

Homework

*ReadingStudentsmustread80minuteseachweek!Thiscanbedoneinseveral
ways,butusuallyworksbestis20min.eachnightMondayThursday.Thenumberof
minutesreadeachnightwillneedtobewrittenbyaparentinthesignatureboxofthe
studentplanner.IwilltrackreadingminuteseveryMonday.

*SpellingADearParentshomeworkpagewillcomehomemostMondaysandwillbe
dueThursdayofthesameweek.Thesepagesaredesignedsothatthestudentdoes
most/allofthework,butparentsareexpectedtodiscussandhelptheirchild.Please
takeafewminuteseachweektoworkonthispagewithyourchild!

*MathAhomeworkpagewillcomehomemostnightsandmustbereturnedthe
followingday.Evenifyourchildunderstandstheconceptswearedoinginclass,itis
helpfulforyoutocheckallhomeworkbeforeitisreturnedtoschool.Iencourageyouto
alsohelpyourchildreviewmultiplicationanddivisionmathfactsathomeoften.This
canbedonewithflashcardsandcomputer/ipadgames.

Studentswillreceivelettergradesfortheassignmentsthatareturnedin.Reportcard
gradeswillbereflectiveofgradesearnedinclassandonhomeworkassignments.
StudentswillbringclassworkhomeonMondays,Wednesdays,andFridayssoyou
shouldseeallgradesbeforeanyreportcardscomehome.Iwillalsosendprogress
reportshomehalfwaythrougheachquartersothatyouandyourchildwillknowhow
gradesarelooking.
