Welcome to English II, students and parents.
This semester, our analysis of literature will be supplemented by vocabulary, writing
assignments, grammar, projects, and presentations, with the following grading scale:

Literary analysis 20%

90-100
Writing 20%

80-89

Vocabulary 20%

Class participation, homework 10%
Class Web Page is linked to the Monarch Teacher Home Page, and is maintained
weekly; it is the responsibility of students (and parents) to monitor this page for important
information, classwork, and assignments.
Suggested Supplies:
Binder (small, with dividers for writing, grammar, literature, tests)
Spiral notebook or loose paper
Red pen or pencil, several highlighters
Supplies should accompany student daily
Rules:
Respect yourself and others, including turning cell phones off before entering class;
charging of cellphones is strictly prohibited at all times.
Participate in discussions and activities.
Make up work for credit and grade is allowed for all absences, according to Broward
Policy 5.5; work is due within two days of students return to class.
Follow all classroom and school procedures; refrain from gum chewing, eating, and
indulging in beverages other than water.
Computers are used for many assignments; students are expected to stay on task at all
times. Use of the computers is meant to enhance learning; computer privileges can be
permanently lost if abused.
