Fantastic four girls honoured with National

bravery award this


year
New Delhi: You must have heard and seen
countless acts of bravery by people till now
but there are some which remain unheard and
unseen. As bravery doesnt defines the age so
here are the chosen four girls whose heroic
deeds need to be recognised. Their selfless
acts of bravery even costed their own lives but
the others are ready to fight and save
throughout their life!

1. Mhonbeni Ezung(The youngest awardee)- The incident
occurred when during the winter vacations, Mhobeni had gone
to stay with her grandmother in a village in Nagaland. One day
her grandmother decided to take her for an outing to Wokha
river. There they caught some fish and cooked their meal.
Before having the lunch, her grandmother went to wash hands
in the river as she was washing her hands her blood pressure
suddenly shot up and she fell into the five and a half feet deep
river. Seeing this, Mhobeni shouted and ran to rescue her. She
tried to pull the old lady out but because of her weight she could
not hold her and she fell again into the river. However, at last
she succeeded in bringing out. She gave her some food and rush
to the village to get some help and returned with locals who
took the Mhonbeni's grandmother to a hospital.
According to reports, Mhonbeni was not afraid as she loved her grandmother and so she had
to save her. Later on her grandmother gave her 'lots of love' once she got better. Mhobeni
wants to become an engineer when she grew up.
2. Resham Fatima - On February 1 last year, Resham Fatma
seventeen-year-old resident of Lucknow was on the way to her
tuition class when her uncle Riaz Ahmed, picked her up at knifepoint. He took her to a highway and threatened her to marry him.
Upon refusing, he poured concentrated sulphuric acid over her
head.
She suffered serious burns but Resham still took an auto rickshaw
which dropped her to a nearby police station. Today, she aims to
become an IAS officer.
Within a week Ahmed was arrested in Mumbai. Later on he
committed suicide in jail.

3. Riya Chaudhary(Bapu Gaidhani Award, posthumously)- Riya sacrificed her life to


save her father on 10th May 2014 when some people forcefully entered their house and
started assaulting the family. During this one of them aimed a shot at her father, Riya came in
between and took the bullet on herself. She died on the spot. Riya wanted to be an engineer
when she was alive.
4. Zeel Jitendra Marathe- Zeel Jitendra Marathe, resident of Vadodara, Gujarat, saved some
kids in a bus accident. On 20th February last year, she and some other kids were going for a
picnic to Shivrajpur along with their school teachers.
While coming back from trip, the driver lost control of the bus due to which the bus fell
towards its right and continued to drag for around 100 kms. The kids started falling from
their seats. Upon seeing, Zeel managed to come out of the bus and saved rest of the kids. She
called up police and ambulance and tried to keep the other kids conscious.
