PRICES OF BUILDING MATERIALS

According to Central Statistical Office data, the price of

building materials increased by just 1.3 per cent in 2009
compared with 7.9 per cent a year earlier (Table 9). The
slowdown is consistent with other price developments
in the economy and the rollback in construction activity.
The measured cost of site preparation declined by 3.6 per
cent, while the increase in prices for walls and roofs rose
by just 0.6 per cent compared with 7.8 per cent in 2008.
