Fullbright awards in teaching Free Two - Day

The United States-India Educational foundation (USIEF)
has announced the 2016 Fulbright Distinguished Awards in
Teaching programme. Fulltime Indian teachers teaching any
subject at any level (primary, middle or secondary) at a school
in India can apply. This programme is also opent to primary
and secondary level media specialists/librarians, guidance counsellors, curriculam specialists, special education coordinators,
gifted and talented coordinators and administrators who spend
at least fifty per cent of their time teaching or workingly directly
with students. Teacher trainer are also eligible.
Selected international participants will be placed at a U.S.
host university School of Education from mid-August to midDecember, 2016. The host university will provide a broad range
of resources in the teachers fields of expertise. International
teachers who are selected to participate in the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching programme will: Enrol in advanced
undergraduate or graduate-level classes; design and conduct
an inquiry project; observe, team teach and or conduct workshop
for U.S teachers and students in local schools and engage in
other teaching-related activities. Upon training home, participants will be expected to share the knowledge and experience
gained on the programme with teachers and students in their
home schools and with the wider community.
The deadline for applications for Indian candidates is October

Simple seps to stave off dengue

The monsoon will soon begin while the rains will be a welcome
relief from the heat, doctors are warning residents to stay vigilant about
fevers and be careful while managing them, especially dengue.
Dengue, the WHO says, is a viral infection transmitted by the bite
of an an infected female Aedes mosquito. It is not directly transmitted
from person to person. Symptoms appear 3-14 days after the bite. There
is no specific treatment.
Symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, severe headaches,
severe joint and muscle pain, pain behind the eyes and radhes. While
in most cases, patinets will get better without medical assistance, if
any warning sense appear, patients must see a doctor says Bala
Ramachandran, Medical Director, Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust
Hospital. The danger signs you need to watch out for, especially when
the fever subsides are severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, red
spot or patches on the skin, bleeding from the nose or gums, cold
extremities, lethergy, vomiting blood, blacl stools and difficultu in
breathing. If any of these signs are present, go to the hospital
immediately. While paracetamol can be taken for the fever, do not
otherwise self-medicate, emphasises T.N.Devarajan, senior consultant,
Apollo First Med Hospital.
Neglecting dengue fever can lead to lung failure and its spread to
the brain, says Prof. Devarajan, Since there are four types of virus,

Investiture Ceremony 2015 2016

at Our Lady School

Lady Matriculation School,
Maduravoyal organized a
seminar for the teachers on 22nd
August 2015, Saturday at 9.00
am in the School Auditorium.
The team of five members

conducted the session on
English Enrichment holding

Enriching every Indian Student
and Teacher to be Globally
competitive as English is the
Gateway

Global
Opportunities.
Dr.Karthik
Narayanan,
speaker of the day motivated the
teachers to implement new
methodology
based
on
Edutainment for developing the
standard of Spoken English
among the students within
short duration.
The inspiring and interactive
session made the teachers
porder and plan for the execution
of the program at the earliest
possible.
Our Lady Matriculation
School, Maduravoyal, organized

a grand Investiture Ceremony 2015 2016 in the Open Auditorium

on 26th August 2015. Mrs.Karpagam Principal, presided over
the ceremony. Holding the golden words of Donald Leadership
is action, not a position the ceremony commenced by lighting
the lamp.
V.Akshaya (XII) SPL. 2014 2015 handed over the school
flag to SairaBanu (XI) SPL. 2015 2016 G.Saravanan (XII)ASPL.Handed over his designation to Rupendre Sasha Sai (XI).
To House Captains for the academic year were also announced.
All the leaders took the oath.
Mrs.Karpagam , Principal distributed the badges to all the leaders
and motivated the leaders to shoulder their responsibilities. She
also enlightened the students about the essential qualities such
as Discipline, Cleanliness, Spoken English and value of sports
to be inculcated during their schooling.
The entertainment dance shows such as Classical Dance by
Babisha Western Dance by Abhishek (XI) received an excellent
applause the ceremony came to an end with National Anthem.
