Short Scene Assignment

Create a new scene for Romeo and Juliet. The scene will be an outline for the conversation that Capulet has with
Lady Capulet. They will be discussing Pariss request for Juliets hand in marriage.
Based on Capulets reaction to Paris in Act 1 Scene 2 lines 1-44 and Lady Capulets conversation with Juliet about
Paris in Act 1 Scene 3 lines 1 -105 write a convincing script.
The script and illustrations will fill all eight (8) boxes provided. You may choose to have each character participate in
the conversation equally or have either Capulet or Lady Capulet dominate. You may also choose to include additional
characters. You may use contemporary language if you are not comfortable with Shakespearian language (this is
recommended). This will not affect your grade. However, spelling and grammar must be correct.
Draw the scenario: setting, clothing, movements etc. Include any details that a director would need to know about
(i.e. enter, exit etc.) This assignment is to be completed as homework. The Short Scene Assignment will be handed
in on Monday March 1st for a summative mark.
Artistic merit and use of colour are not part of the marking scheme; however, please keep in mind that the scenes
will be posted throughout the classroom once they have been marked. This sheet must be handed in with your
scene.
