Religion Curriculum
This year we will be using a
confirmation study program,
Chosen. Chosen explores salvation
history, revelation, and the four last
things. It teaches about the
sacraments, the beatitudes, prayer,
virtue, and Mary the Mother of
God. It answers tough questions and
challenges the reader to say yes to
Christ, and to build His Church.
Chosen approaches each of these
topic areas by raising tough
questions like:

How do I know God is real?

Why be Catholic?
Why tell my sins to a priest?
Why do I have to go to
Mass?
Do I have what it takes?
And

Where do I go from here?

Social Studies Curriculum

For classroom management issues, I

use a Three Strikes policy. This
policy will apply to classroom
behaviors such as talking out of
turn, being off task, not being
prepared for class, etc. Strikes will
be documented on my clipboard.

The social studies curriculum will

focus on the study of the following
themes in the Eastern Hemisphere:

1X- verbal warning and

documentation.

Culture
Time, Continuity and Change
The relationship between people
and environment
Cultural Identity
Cultural Institutions
Power, Authority, and
Governance
Production, Distribution, and
Consumption
The impact of science and
technology on society
Global Connections
Civic Ideals and Practices

3X- 3rd documentation and email

home

2X- 2nd documentation

Strikes will reset daily, but frequent

strikes over time will affect your
conduct grade.

Grading
Grades will depend on formal
assessments (tests, papers,
presentations, etc.), classwork,
homework, and participation. I will
be using points to record your
grade. Assignments such as tests
and projects will be worth more
points.

Classroom Policies and Procedures

(continued)
Homework
Homework will be assigned on a
regular basis. It is essential that
you use your planner and the class
website to record your homework
because you will be expected to
complete your homework on time.
Failure to complete homework on
time will result in a 10% reduction
in grade. The second day late will
result in a 50% reduction, and
anything after that will receive a
0%.
