Dear Staffing Specialist,

Please consider my application for an engineering position at this company. I graduated from San Diego
State University (SDSU) in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have
developed significant skills in engineering design and working with tools such as 3D modeling, flow
dynamics, and finite element analysis.
For two years I interned at Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc., a full service Mechanical, Electrical,
Plumbing and Technology (MEPT) consulting engineering firm providing design services for small to large
environments including new construction, renovations, tenant improvements and modernizations for
various types of buildings and facilities. This experience has allowed me to develop an understanding of
engineering processes and the importance of team based operations. For example, during my
internship I:

Contributed to over 50 projects, created and edited 2D and 3D models, analyzed existing HVAC
systems and designed more efficient components.
Brainstormed and came up with different solutions for specific jobs or projects alongside the
mechanical engineering team.
Acquired firsthand knowledge on how to interface with various companies and professionals to
ensure that the work I produced was complete and valuable.
Learned the steps needed to do a project from start to finish with satisfactory results.

In all of my SDSU projects I have taken charge of the design and 3D modeling aspects, including my
senior design project. This project is designed to provide an innovative take on physical therapy utilizing
virtual reality aid for people with brain damage that affects the ability to move their upper limbs. This
table consists of three levels: work space, mirror and TV (bottom to top respectively). The user sits at
the table with their arms on the work space level. Compressed air runs through designed air sleds that
hold up the users arm which creates a frictionless surface; allowing brain damaged users to move their
upper limbs with ease. The user looks down into the mirror and sees the TV above; providing a sense of
virtual reality. Each level can be moved up and down to fit the current user.
Furthermore, I am also familiar with automotive mechanics. At age 16, I helped rebuild a 1971 SS Chevy
Nova including engine, transmission and interior. I also enrolled in an automotive class which gave me a
general knowledge of cars and their various mechanical components. These experiences are what led
me to pursue a career in mechanical engineering.
I would like to build on my technical foundation and leverage my teamwork and communication skills in
an environment where my contributions will benefit this company.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
