need for structure and repetition.
Course Description:
Failure Free Reading is a highly-structured, non-phonic, language development program that directly
teaches reading comprehension, vocabulary and fluency to students. Failure Free Reading's highlystructured, multi-sensory language development lessons explicitly teach word recognition,
comprehension and fluency.
Failure Free Reading's Secondary Solution combines two Josephs Readers levels (Orange & Teal), with
all four levels of Verbal Master (l, ll, lll & lV). The program's unique multi-modal instruction combines
scripted teacher lessons, talking software, and print reinforcement exercises. Intensive scaffolds and
controlled, age-appropriate texts enable students to finally build the foundational language skills, and
confidence, essential for further learning.

Units of Study:
Each student is administered an online Failure Free Diagnostic Prescriptive Assessment. Students are
assigned starting points based on their diagnostic prescriptive results. There are several starting levels,
Orange, Teal and Verbal Master. It is expected that students master one level prior to going on to the
next. Failure Free Reading curriculum is a combination of direct instruction, appropriate leveled text
and technology.

Grading Policy:
Failure Free Reading, Secondary Solution will follow Dorchester County Public Schools grading policy
based on two performance categories: Summative assessments (such as tests, quizzes and benchmarks)
and Formative Assessments (such as classwork, participation, and demonstrated progress).
Assessments will determine 70% of the students final grade and other criteria will account for the
remaining 30%. Please refer to the Dorchester County Public Schools calendar for more information.
