Real-time Object-tracking Robotic Arm (Team project)
Implemented parallel code in CUDA for an object tracking application with Nvidias embedded GPU system Jetson TK1.
Increased the speed of detection in each frame to more than 4 times faster after combining OpenCV and CUDA API.
Created a TCP/IP master-slave model for the application to send the targets 2-D coordinates to the arm control system.
iPad Selling Prediction on eBay (Kaggle competition)
Constructed multiple logistic regression and random forest prediction models in R to predict chance of selling on eBay.
Adopted text analysis and bag-of-words method to handle certain variables such as item description and applied domain
knowledge on other independent variables.
Analyzed and compared different models to improve AUC performance and achieved top 15% ranking on Kaggle.
Principal Component Analysis on Neuroimaging (BerkeleyX project)
Implemented scalable machine learning algorithm with Apache Spark using IPython Notebook on Databricks
to analyze neural signal patterns from larval zebrafish.
Parsed and normalized 46460 pixels of 240 seconds time-varying raw data (provided by BerkeleyX) and constructed
covariance matrix and eigen-decomposition on the dataset.
Performed feature aggregation for both temporal and spatial features after reducing raw data to 3 dimensions to obtain
simple and readable visual representation for further experiment.
