Physical Education Program - Lesson Plan Template

NASPE Content Standard(s) targeted: 1,2,3,5
Objectives (Explicit, observable): By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe and
demonstrate various manipulative skills using bean bags including tossing, catching, and balancing
by using cues such as keeping your eyes on the bean bag till it hit your hands.
Organization Student (individual, partners, 3's, groups of?): Student will work individually, as
well as be partnered with another student to make groups of two throughout the lesson.

Formal Assessment/Evidence of Mastery: Informal observation, ask questions to check for


understanding, student demonstration, and make sure students are performing the cues correctly.
Formal assessment will include a checklist that includes the cue keep your eyes on the beanbag until
it hits your hand , and all students will be assessed during the lesson focus activity

balancing, kicking, demonstrate, movement,

Needed equipment and Set-up: 30/25 interval

CONTENT SEQUENCE:
Opening/Anticipatory Set: (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real
life)
Introductory Activity/Warm-up segment:
Move and Freeze- 3 minutes
Have students moving upon entering the activity area.
The students will freeze when the teacher blows the whistle (music stops).
Students will demonstrate locomotor movements during the thirty second interval (during
music).
- Walk, run, jump, hop, skip, gallop, leap, slide
Fitness Development segment:
Animal movement-8 minutes
During the 30 seconds interval students will act out animal movement on sign.
When the student passes another sign they will switch to that animal movement.
When the teacher blows the whistle and students will freeze.
The teacher will call out an activity and the students perform the stretch or workout.
During the twenty- five seconds of activity students will do actions such as stretching,
abdominal workout, arms workout, legs workout.
Lesson Focus segment - Include Teaching Cues:
Beanbags- 12minutes
Students will individually toss and catch the beanbag in place without moving.
tossing and catching with two hands, one hand, high toss, low toss, spinning, hand clapping,

and behind the back


Students will move well trying to perform locomotor movements.
Students will try to balance the beanbag on different body parts for a period of time.
Students will partner up with another student and perform tossing and catching variations to
each other.

Cues for catching


- Receiver should keep both eyes on the beanbag and catch it with soft hands
-Little fingers are together for most catches

Cues for tossing


- Beanbag should be in the center of the hand.
-Thumbs and fingers relaxed.
-beanbag should be tossed under hand over your head (not to high over the head).

Cues For Balancing


- Stand still in a comfortable position
- Put beanbag on the center of body partner
- Move slowly with beanbag on body part

Game segment- Include Rule Modifications and progression through the rules:
Attached at the- 5 minutes
Students will be partnered up in groups of two
Both partners will put the beanbag (one beanbag) on the same body part(ex. hip)
They will move together sideline to sideline without dropping the bean bag.
Students will use varies body parts to move the bean bag
Fastest tag in the west
To begin the class all students are designated as the tagger. The goal is to get every student
involved in activity trying to tag one another. If a student is tagged they must freeze. Restart
the game often so that their in constant movement for all kids.
