Dear Robert,

I thought for a while about what to write my literacy narrative on and I realized that I wouldnt
be able to write about sports like the majority of the class, because Im tragically unathletic. So, I
thought I would write something that had to do with family considering that was something that
was completely unique to me. Since most of my family is very loving I figured that that would
be a simple topic to write about, and for the majority it was. Knowing what each family member
had taught me wasnt hard, but finding the perfect scenes to describe their characteristics and
way of love to my audience was challenging. I didnt have to spend much time planning because
the scenes have been imbedded into my brain pretty well, so when I began to write about them
they just seemed to flow out. This paper really helped me open up, and I think it actually made
me appreciate my family a lot more. I never really realized everything they had influenced for
me until it was down on paper. One of the more challenging things about the assignment was
sharing what I had wrote about, considering love is a more embarrassing topic than
snowboarding and soccer. One of the major revisions I did to my paper was adding a paragraph
about how I think I love and contrasting it to my familys style of love. I hadnt even thought to
add this to my paper until it was suggested by one of my peers. I think this paragraph actually
helped tie in the entire theme of the paper to all the points I had already presented. I also really
enjoyed reading my peers papers and being able to take a glimpse into their lives and something
that has shaped them into the person that they are today. Overall, I think this happened to be one
of the easiest papers I have ever written and I think Ill really enjoy writing narratives in the
future.
Sincerely,
Shelbey Sparrow
