1.A.1 Compare how various models of

Representative democracy are reflected
through major institutions,
policies, events, or debates in the U.S.
Participatory democracies are when people gather for town meetings, people
participate in government decisions.
Pluralist democracy is where there is more than one power that controls
everyone such as the three different branches of our government.
Elite democracy is what the U.S. uses such as governors because each state
selects someone to represent them.

1.B.1 Analyze and compare democratic

ideals reflected in U.S. foundational
documents.
Democratic ideals are when everyone is equal which would be natural rights
and popular sovereignty. The Bill of Rights are citizens of the U.S. natural rights that
cant be taken away from the government. The Declaration of Independence is when
the United States separated from Great Britain so they can gain natural rights that
were not given by them.

1.B.2 Compare and interpret Federalist

and Anti-Federalist views on central
government and democracy.
Federalists were more toward the Constitution because it was more about
having a strong central government which would be easier to solve issues. Antifederalists believed a central government would corrupt the U.S. because the
government would try to gain as much control until the citizens did not have any.
Anti-federalists wanted a Bill of Rights that would protect the people of the U.S.
from losing any of their rights because the government wanted to gain more control.
Federalists believed they should separate the government into different branches.

1.C.1 Explain the relationship between

key provisions of the Articles of

Confederation and the debate over
granting greater power to the federal
government formerly reserved to the
The Articles of Confederation did not give control to the central government
states.
because there was a lack of strong national government and disorganization. The
government was not able to control states taxing the people which caused more
problems throughout the government.

1.C.2 Analyze causes and effects of

constitutional compromises in
addressing political, economic, and
regional
divisions.
The Great Compromise was when the government decided to have both the
Virginia and New Jersey plan combined to create our government. Which is two
houses one that is based on population and the other which allows two senators
chosen by legislators. It is helpful today because not all taxes will be passed because
he branch has a say in it.

1.C.3 Explain how issues raised in the

ratification debate are reflected in
ongoing philosophical disagreements
about democracy and governmental
power.

The issues in todays society are some states do not want other states to
legalize marijuana for certain reasons. Legalizing marijuana can cause many
problems throughout the U.S. because it does affect health problems however some
states use it because of cancerous reasons. This is debate that will affect the nation
for many years because they are many different opinions about the situation.

1.D.1 Evaluate the relationship between

separation of powers and checks and
balances.

The separation of powers separates the three branches of government, each

branch has their own responsibility so they will not intertwine with one another.
Checks and balances keeps the government from gaining too much power by giving
the right to limit the powers of each branch.

1.E.1 Assess how the distribution of

powers among three federal branches
affects policy making.

For policies to become laws they have to go through each branch and get
approved by them. In order to make it equal, each branch can make a policy that
helps them but can be vetoed by any other branch. Congress, the President, courts
and other government officials discuss the policies they will create in order to
benefit the United States but each section must approve it to become effective.

1.F.1 Explain how and why the

appropriate balance of power between
national and state governments has
been interpreted differently over time.
The U.S. has legalized gay marriage throughout the U.S. even though people
disagree with it. People think they have the right of disagreeing with the decision,
but they do not. People who are gay have as much rights as they do and should not
be mistreated with what they prefer. The woman who recently got in trouble for not
wanting to let gays get married was a big issue and she could get in trouble for
thinking she has the right to let them be married because now it is nationally legal
for them to be able to.

1.F.2 Analyze questions over the

allocation and scope of central power
within
a power
federal
structure.
The central
of our government
is divided between state and federal
governments, both have different positions to fulfill. The federal government is split
into three branches and the highest of those three branches is split into two, so the
federal government is not able to gain more control. The government is trying to
make sure that each branch can not manipulate the people by overusing their power.
