1. Conducts self in a professional manner (e.g., attendance, preparation, respect).
1 2 3 4 (Dispositions: Respect, Responsibility, Communication) Miss Checker always came on time and spent additional time in order to complete her observed lesson. She sent reminder emails of when assignments were due and lesson plan previews in advance to allow me time to provide feedback. 2. Encourages development of a positive self-image in learners (e.g., gets to know students, 1 2 3 4 positive interactions with students). (Dispositions: Respect, Collaboration) Miss Checker asked for a class composite with student names in order to get to know them and be able to use their names quickly in the semester. She always got to the students' levels to talk or confer with them. She built relationships through her interactions and provided positive, meaning feedback. She would also ask questions to push their thinking forward. 3. Interacts effectively with students, colleagues, administrators, parents. 1 2 3 4 (Dispositions: Respect, Collaboration, Communication) She wore smiles regularily and used friendly body language with all staff and parents she had interactions with at College Park. She would ask questions to learn as much as possible during her placement. She briefly observed other teachers (Reading Specialists, ESL and Specials teachers) who work with our students when opportunities allowed for it. 4. Demonstrates effective pre-professional teaching skills. (e.g., planning, implementing 1 2 3 4 lesson) (Dispositions: Respect, Responsibility, Reflection, Collaboration, Communication) Miss Checker researched what we had been studying and where the class was heading in the units to plan a lesson that fit in with our scope. She chose her own books and asked clarifying questions when and if needed. She delivered some lesson components with great confidence. Miss Checker thoughtfully preplanned class management reminders within her lessons to establish expectations aligned with known classroom routines. 5. Communicates effectively through speaking, writing, and listening (e.g., gives clear 1 2 3 4 directions, listens to students, uses media). (Dispositions: Respect, Communication) She often would ask students to use a "thumbs up" if they understood the directions. She used both ipads and the activeboard with our students. Her anchor charts were easy to read and provided important resources for the students. Miss Checker used students' names when necessary to help ensure active listening. Final Comments/Suggestions for Candidate: It was an absolute pleasure working with Miss Checker this semester! She will be greatly missed. Date: December 1, 2014
