ADA 2OIP: Fairytale Monologues

This is your opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of creating and

performing characters in Dramatic works. Use not only what we have reviewed in
class already, but also what you have learned about mime, inflection, word
emphasis, showing emotion, and character creation work from previous Drama
classes and/or community work.
You will prepare a short monologue (1-2 minutes) as a character from the fairy tale.
You must script your dialogue as well as plan out the blocking assorted production
elements. Your monologue should take place in the moment either right
before the scene or right after the scene took place.
Fill out the character sketch handout creating a back story for your character. It is
essential that you have explored who your character is and how they feel in order to
write an effective piece. Everyone will hand in the good copy of your monologue as
well as the character sketch on our first performance day.
After writing, you will revise, memorize, rehearse, and finally present your
monologue using the dramatic skills you have learned. You will have an entire class
period to write the monologue as well as three periods for character development
and rehearsal. Any additional revisions, memorization and additional rehearsal time
required will all be completed at home as part of your homework.
