Requirements

Students who wish to enroll in White Station's College Preparatory Optional


Program must:

1.
File an Application for Optional Schools (available in January)
the Board of Education, Department of Optional Schools
and
Advanced Academics, 160 S. Hollywood, Room C106.

Submit a copy of the most recent comprehensive report card.

A. Applicant's report card must have A's and B's and no more than
one C as a semester average in academic subjects.
B. Applicant's report card must have no D's or F's as a semester
average in any subject.
C. Applicant's report card must show satisfactory conduct and
attendance (including promptness to school and to each class). A total of
more than 15 absences and/or tardies is considered unsatisfactory.

3.
Submit a copy of current nationally normed or TCAP Achievement Test
scores from within the academic year. Eligible students must score at or
above the 80th percentile on the Reading/Language Arts subtest or its
equivalent AND on the Mathematics subtest or its equivalent.

4.
On a current EXPLORE, PLAN, or ACT, eligible students must score at
or above the 80th percentile in Reading, English, and Mathematics.

5.
On a current PSAT/SAT, Critical Reading, Writing Skills, and
Mathematics scores must be equivalent to the 80th percentile or higher.

Specific admission and course selection requirements will be discussed when


Applications for Optional Schools are approved. Students are required to take
all courses required for graduation at the Honors level.

Admission is available for qualified students regardless of geographical school


assignment.

Students who maintain the Optional renewal requirements for White Station
Middle School will be accepted into White Station High Schools Optional
Program on a continuation basis.

To remain in the Optional Program, a student must maintain an average of C


or above in each subject per semester. Optional students who make a firstsemester D in any academic subject will not be approved for
renewal/admission. Also, the entrance requirements for conduct and
attendance must be maintained.

Transportation to the school is the responsibility of the students parents/legal


guardians.

Final approval is contingent upon review of the student's


second-semester/final report card.
