Job Summary:
The IT Summer Internship is Duke Energys premier leadership
and technical development summer internship position for highpotential, current college students seeking to increase their
knowledge foundation and skills in the field of Information
Technology, at the countrys largest electric power holding
company, to assist in both their respective academia and future
careers.
IT Summer Internships may take place in any of the nine IT
organizations at Duke Energy Application Delivery, Application
Support, Infrastructure & Operations, Nuclear Applications &
Operations, Telecommunications, Business Planning &
Relationship Management, Project Management, Cyber Security &
Compliance, and Technology Strategy & Data Management.
The Intern will experience complex intellectual challenges,
participate on and be responsible for small-scale and large-scale
ventures alike, and be exposed to project management, process
improvement, and numerous technological tools in a multiplicity
of diverse IT functions. They will gain familiarity with the
organization and the companys business operations by
networking with other Interns and more senior level employees,
as well as honing their own skills for future, practical application.
The Internship Program is designed as a talent pipeline for future
IT Associates a full time, entry-level rotational program in Duke
Energys Information Technology department.

Qualifications:
Basic/Required Qualifications:
Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0
Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters degree program as a
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or first year graduate student, at
an accredited university
Working towards an IT or Engineering related major, such as
Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management
Information Systems, Software Information Systems, Information
Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
Desired Qualifications:
Exposure to or familiarity with computer networking and
telecommunications, application design and development,
information security (e.g., applications, intrusion detection,
firewalls, etc.), operating systems, database administration
Leadership potential or skills displayed through extracurricular
activities (e.g., intramurals, boy/girl scouts, clubs and
organizations)
Community service experience
Previous IT Internship or Co-op experience
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Self-driven and motivated
Willingness and desire to rotate to, as well as an ability to excel
in, a variety of roles
Professional and effective written and verbal communication
skills
