Students are introduced to the proper use of word processing software, including document creation, editing and printing of properly
formatted documents.

Word.
Through direct instruction(Demonstration) students will learn about
how to write a Report. Students will
follow the teacher on the smart board.

Activity- Students will solve the
Report Puzzle where they will be given
cut out of a completed report and tape it
back together. They will be given the
completed Report as a worksheet.

Students will start working on their


keyboarding program.
Through Direct instruction the teacher
will go over the parts of a letter.
Jigsaw Activity: Students will research
using the textbooks in the classroom on
the letter, how the letter is composed.
They will become experts of their section
(Return address, Inside Address,
Salutation, Body, and Signers
Identification) where they will have a
worksheet where they can write down
their information.
Students will then split having one
student from each group to form a new
group. The students will teach each other
the different parts of the letter in detail
filling in the missing information on their
worksheet.
The teacher will then have a smart
board activity where students, chosen at
random, can help format the letter on the
computer.
Teacher will go over Assignment #2
before the break. Teacher will explain the
rules again regarding the printer (Digital
Citizenship).
Students will return from break and
begin working on Assignment #2.

new cookie they will be producing.

discussion about their cookies with the
whole class.
Students will begin the lesson with their
keyboarding program.

What is the purpose of a table?
Begin by teaching the students what a
table should look like.
Direct Instruction: Teach the parts of a
table in Microsoft Word. Provide a
demonstration with the students
following along on their computers.
Students will then create their own
tables using the examples on the smart
board. They will save the document to
their hard drive.

document created by the teacher. The
document will have three different spots
where the students may place the
multimedia. They may use pictures from
the Word program or research it from the
Internet. They will need to find three
different multimedia formats to place in
this document. They will save it on their
hard drive and send it to the teacher
through email.
The teacher will go over Assignment #4
which is the newsletter. The newsletter is
a big assignment that requires a lot of
planning and work. They will be given
ample time to finish meaning it will need
to be professional. The teacher will pick
the partners for the assignment (Digital
Citizenship).

The expectations apply to every class


including the working classes. Students
must inform the teacher in advance of
any planned activities (such as
interviewing a teacher) (Digital
Citizenship).
The students will stay on task and
complete the task just as they have
planned on their planning sheet (which is
approved by the teacher).
At the end lesson: 11, 13, 15, and 17 the
teacher will regroup the class and have a
class discussion about their newsletter.
The teacher will ask: Does anyone have
any questions? Does anyone have any
interesting information the would like to
share with the class?
The teacher will send the kids home
when the bell rings.
Lesson 17: Students will finish their
newsletter and send a copy to the teacher
as well as print it off (only one copy).
Students will be ready to present their
newsletter to the class.
Order of presentations will be chosen at
random.
Each group will talk about their
newsletter (e.g. What they found out,
what they have in their newsletter, How
they formatted the newsletter, etc.). They
