Camera Obscura

How It Works
The box is a like a very dark room
with one hole in one side. The light
rays go through the hole and cross to
make the object appear upside down
and then it reflects off the mirror to
project upward onto a flat surface.

What It's Used For


It helped astronomers shield their eyes while looking
at the sun or an eclipse, artists used it to help them in
tracing a portrait or a landscape painting and inventures
when they started using a different lense to brighten the
image.

Why
Camera Obscura was the device that led to photographs and digital cameras.
Camera Obscura, the prototype for the modern photo camera used to capture light to get the image
of an object on the outside.

History
The first box form of a Camera Obscura was by Johann Zahn in 1685.
Mention of since BC ages or Ancient Greece times, specifically Aristotle and his notice of a type
of Camera Obscura, but instead of a box, it was inside a dark room that the light passed
through then creating an image on the opposite wall, during a partial eclipse of the sun.
Might have been used by cave men to do wall drawings that they did
Invented around the 13th or 14th century.
First detailed by Leonardo da Vincis writings.
