Functions Of Lipids
The function of why we have Lipids is to mainly store energy and
forming cell membranes.
Lipids have other functions of the body as well such as chemical
messengers, sending messages between other cells and organelles.
Since Lipids are fat basically, they function as a temperature regulating
system as well.

Functions Of
Phospholipids
Lipids
These
lipids play apt.2
key part in the functioning in cells of all

organisms. They are vital for a healthy life as in cellular and

bodily function. Organized as a subclass and can be seen as the
Building Block of Cellular Membranes They form a bilayer
around all living matter in a cell. They support all cognitive
function, cardiovascular health, nerve health, liver function,
and digestion. When digesting they help move vitamins,
nutrients ,and fat containing molecules through the body.
Located in the human body where they can be naturally made
and in foods that contains lecithin in their components. Lecithin
aids in digestion. Examples of them are egg yolks, milk, and so
on.

Functions of
Triglyceride pt. 3
Lipids
These are a type of fat located in your blood. Although their purpose is
to provide us with energy, a high level or concentration of them.
Meaning that eating more calories than you need can be harmful to you.
Heart attacks and other things may occur if it gets to a very high level.
Right after eating the calories you get are converted into triglycerides
and stored in your fat cells for later use.

Structure and Chemical

Makeup
of Lipids
Lipids
dont have one common
structure. Common lipids
are triglycerides and phospholipids. The chemical makeup
of lipids are mostly made up of Carbon and Hydrogen
atoms. Oxygen are included but not a lot. They are
formed when glycerol molecules combine with fatty acids.
Each lipid is different even sometimes with the slightest
difference. There are three different categories: fats, oils,
and waxes. Lipids can be both saturated and unsaturated.

How Lipids are Relevant to

My Life

Fatty Acids: These acids transport oxygen through our bodies, and provide us energy
as well.
Glycerolipids: These lipids comprise the bulk of storage fat in our tissues.
Glycerophospholipids: They are the main component of our cell membrane, which is
an organelle that protects our cell from any surroundings.
Sterol Lipids: Some of these lipids dissolve in fat-like molecules, and others dissolve in
water. Cholesterol is an example of a sterol lipid that is a precursor to steroid fatsoluble vitamins and hormones.
Steroids: Our bodies synthesize these lipids. They are also used as components of our
cell membranes, just like glycerophospholipids. Steroids represent highly concentrated
energy stores for our bodies.
