Self-Assessment ED-215 Lesson Plan

1. Was/were the outcome(s) met? Explain.

Yes they were met. I taught the lesson in an engaging way and the students enjoyed it. They
understood the concept of themes and how they applied to their book by the end of my lesson.
2. Did you modify your original plan? If so, how did you adapt the plan and why?
I did not have to modify my lesson. I did, however, ask my CT what ideas he had about a lesson
for me to do in the beginning to ensure it was applicable to where they were at.
3. If you were to teach this lesson over, what would you do differently?
If I were to teach this lesson differently I would give the students more time to work on their
projects.
4. To follow up on this lesson, what would you teach next?
To follow up this lesson I taught a poetry lesson. I had the students use the themes we analyzed
to write poems using metaphors similes personification and imagery.
5. What worked best in your lesson? What did you do to motivate learners? Explain.
Consider communication and social interaction skills. (Refer to Social Interaction
Abilities)
The presentations worked best because each student participated in saying something. I
motivated the children by telling them that they will be doing presentations. This motivated them
because this is an active class that enjoys speaking infront of the class. Students did well with
communication and social interaction. They were very attentive to what their classmates were
saying for the most part, and listened to everyones ideas.
6. What did you find most difficult about teaching this lesson? Explain. (Refer
to Social Interaction Abilities)
The most difficult thing was keeping students quiet while other groups were presenting. They
were attentive after I told them to stop talking but I had to remind them a few times.
7. What insights do you have about student learning from the assessment?
I think this assessment helps students view themselves teaching which is beneficial to
progressing and doing better.
8. How did you use the cooperating teacher's expertise in planning this lesson?
I used by CTs expertise by asking him what I should do my lesson on and then send him my
lesson plan prior to teaching it. I also had him give me feedback during my lesson.
9. What teaching ability or skill will you work on next time?
Next time I will work on speaking louder.
