Teacher Professional Growth Plan

GOAL 1: Positively contribute within a team teaching setting.


This goal is important to be because I am unfamiliar with team teaching, and I have been
provided with the incredible opportunity to learn from this experience. I believe that team
teaching offers support for all individuals involved and can challenge teachers to think in
new ways, share their strengths, and develop in areas of weakness. In order for students
to benefit from team teaching, I think that communication and cooperation within the
teaching team is vital. As well as learn from this experience, I aim to contribute to the
Grade 5 teaching team in positive ways.
Strategy 1.1

Build positive relationships with colleagues by getting to know them,


carrying out conversations, greeting them in the hallways, and offering to
help.

Attend and actively participate in all grade level, division, and school
wide meetings.

Maintain open and clear lines of communication with the other Grade 5

Measures: This goal will be measured by the feedback that I receive from my colleagues.
I will also assess my goal progress by reflecting professionally on my efforts and my
perceptions of the impact that my involvement is having.

GOAL 2: Increase my use of computer technology for communication


and student learning.
This goal is a priority to me because I believe that communication is important for all
aspects of teaching. As 21st Century learners, students benefit from appropriate use of
technology for learning material and life-long skills. I aim to improve my knowledge of
technology in the classroom and broaden my teaching resources.
Sub-goal 1: Use computer technology to maintain effective communication with
staff, students, and parents.

Use email and Google Documents to communicate with staff, as well as


share lessons and other ideas.

Enhance lessons by using the document camera, and incorporating

Measures: I will know that I have achieved my technology goal upon the completion of
my teaching internship if I have used each strategy increasingly throughout the semester.
Technology use will be documented in my lesson plans and reflections. My lesson
reflections will also provide me with documentation of the effectiveness of each
technology tool or activity for increasing student engagement and understanding.

GOAL 3: Confidently incorporate elements of Math Exchanges/Guided


Math into math units and lessons to enhance student understanding.
I am eager to pursue this goal because I value the opportunities for differentiation, hands
on learning, small group instruction, and ongoing assessment that this Math program
offers. I aim to improve my professional understanding as I learn a new teaching strategy
and become confident in delivering and facilitating it.

Measures: Evidence within my lesson and unit plans will measure the progress of the
implementation of my goal within the classroom. My professional learning and growth
will be recorded within my lesson reflections. I will also be able to evaluate the success
and impact of my goal based on student learning. This will be reflected in student math
assessment; including observations, conversations, and products.
