    fifthgrader.

    IaminvolvedinmanyoftheoncampusorganizationsincludingSPORKroboticswhereIamcurrently
    cocaptainoftheteam,NationalHonorsSociety,SpanishHonorsSociety,MuAlphaTheta(MathHonors
    Society)andTriM(MusicHonorsSociety).AlongwiththeseIhavetakenpartintheMooresvilleYouth
    Council,ahighschoolcommunityservicegroup,andhavetrainedTaekwondo,Akoreanmartialart,for10
    years.ThroughthesecommitmentsandthroughpersonalinquiryIhaveworkingknowledgeoffabrication,
    computeraideddesign,programmingin:C++,HTML,CSS,JavaScript,JQuery,LUA,andLabView,project
    managementwiththeuseofGANTTcharts,circuitryand3Dprinting.Theseskillsaswellasmy
    overwhelminglyanalyticalnaturealignedmyintereststowardsengineering.

    Mychosenresearchtopicaswellascareerfocusisaerospaceengineering.Aerospaceengineeringisthefieldof
    engineeringwithafocusonaircraftandspacecraft.Aerospaceengineeringisacareerwithalotoffuture
    potentialandagrowingjobmarket.Spaceisthefinalfrontieranditismylifegoaltocontributetomans
    explorationofspace.Ifeelliketheuniverseistoounpredictableandthatforhumanitytoendureformillennia
    tocomeweneedtospreadourselvestootherplanets.ForthisreasonIwanttoworkontheinternationaleffort
    tocolonizemars.IamtrulypassionateaboutthesubjectmatterandIamintentaboutfollowingthiscareerpath.

    FormyprojectIintendonbuildingamockhydramissilepod.Thehydramissilepodisahelicoptermounted,
    unguided,airtogroundmissilebattery.ToavoidtheuseofanyillegalexplosivesIamdesigningmymissile
    batteryaroundtheuseoflegallypurchasedfireworks.Iamgoingtousea3Dprintertocreateacustomized
    tubingdesign.Thedesignwillinvolve7tubeseachwithindividualfiringcapability.Theywillbelaunched
    withelectricalmatchesandacircuitboardforindividualcontrol.ForthisprojectIwillneeda3Dprinter,
    computeraideddesign(CAD)programs,fireworks,electricalmatches,circuitboardwith7availablePulse
    widthmodulation(PWM)slotsandUSBconnection,programmingsoftwarecompatiblewiththecircuitboard,a
    computercapableofrunningthesoftware,acontroller,wire,andwiringtools.Thisprojectincludingallofthe
    research,designandconstructionshouldtakeabout20hoursofwork.Iamintentonhavingtheproductdone
    bytheendofwinterbreak,duetothestartoftheroboticsseasonshortlythereafter.Sinceitisaterribleideato
    bringfireworkstocampusandIhavedecidedonadifferentwaytodemonstratemyproduct.Iwillbringinthe
    missilebatteryunloadedandshowtheCADdesignandprogrammingofthefiringmechanismalongwitha
    shortvideoofthemissilesfiring.Ibeseechthiscommitteetotakethetimetotrulyanalyzetherisks,orlack
    thereof,inthisprojectbeforedismissingitasdangerous.Withalllegalandcontrolledcomponentsitisless
    harmfulthanazippolighterorasharppairofscissors.ThankyouandIhopeyouenjoytherestoftheletters
