conceptually difficult material (Learning with Interactive Whiteboads, 2009). This distinctly
epitomizes how essential technology in the classroom is, and how vital it is to substantiate
students own abilities and cognitive development in all areas of instruction. It has provided
institutions across the world with innovative and compelling pedagogical approaches that have
forever changed the way teaching and lesson plans are developing across the country and also at
ABC Community School itself. If we eliminate technology in the educational setting here at
ABC Community School, it could be the incredibly harmful to the each students individual
success and improvement for the future.

After having extensively researched and identified technology standards at District, State
and National level, I have developed a broad understanding for the CCSD Technology Education
Standards, Nevada Performance Indicators, National Education Technology Standards and the
impact technology has on Common Core Standards across numerous grade levels and the
recommended levels of sophistication for each individually at elementary, middle school and
high school levels. Each of these Education and Technology Standards greatly impacts
instruction across the nation and in each independent state as well. As ABC Community School
is a secondary institution, it is necessary to cooperate with these standards to demand success in
our students future.
I have researched the Technology Standards for CCSD, Nevada and also National
Standards, each having its own unique concept, although all inherently and primarily adopting
the notion that Technology can help to substantiate teaching instruction as a whole,if utilized in
the proper manner for a institutional and instructional setting. On CCSDs Computer and
Technology Education Standards it states in the overall content standard that, Productivity Tool:
Students use appropriate productivity tools including but not limited to Word Processing,
spreadsheet, database, multimedia and telecommunications (CCSD.net). With that being stated,
it also categorizes these standards by: Exceeds Standards, Meets Standards, Approaches
Standards and Below Standards. It also provides Performance Level Descriptors for each grade
level to decide and depict improvement and understanding of the concepts being taught in the
classroom and the comprehension of using technology to successfully complete these tasks. At
the secondary level that ABC Community School Standards are determined, it states that by
Grade 12, students should be able to, Type a Word Processing Document, utilizes appropriate
technological tools, design and create a database, print reports correctly, accurately apply
spreadsheet formulas, apply multimedia strategies, differentiate and evaluate the uses of systems,
demonstrates a thorough understanding of electronic communications, and demonstrates a fully
developed knowledge of multimedia techniques (CCSD.net). This is the determining factor of
CCSD School District that regards students comprehension and ability with the technology
standards.
By conducting further research, I also thoroughly read through Nevadas State
Technology Standards. According to the Nevada Department of Education, it states in their Goals
for Success 2009-2014 that, Three goals drive this plan addressing the following critical areas:
Robust infrastructure and connectivity supporting digital-age learning and teaching, professional
growth for educators to improve student learning with technology, and instructional technology
integration across the curriculum to engage digital leaders (doe.nv.gov). Nevada Department of
Education widely encourages the use of technology for instructional materials, and in the 21st
Century is becoming more widely used and included in lessons across the nation to exemplify
the goals and standards in which it encourages as well. They also state on Page 2 that, Research
on student learning indicates that well-implemented classroom technology integration has a
positive effect on student achievement and engagement (doe.nv.gov).
Lastly, there is the National Technology Standards and the ISTE Standards. The National
Technology Standards states that, The National Education technology Plan recognizes that
technology is at the core of virtually every aspect of our daily lives and work, and we must
leverage it to providing engaging and powerful learning experiences and content, as well as
resources and assessments that measure student achievement in more complete, authentic, and
meaningful ways. The NETP presents a model of learning powered by technology, with goals
and recommendations in five essential areas: learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure and
productivity. (tech.ed.gov). Here we being to develop a better understanding for the use of
technology in the classroom and the Standards set nationally that inhibit the lesson plans of
schools across the nation. These Standards help to model the criteria in which we use and
associate technology with lessons and the instructional setting.
These different, yet similar approaches of Standards for technology in the educational
setting, touches base on a multitude of different modalities and procedures that enhance
instruction in classrooms for teachers everywhere. But the general and broad goal for all
Standards collectively I believe would be that in order to students to succeed in all grade levels
and in the future, it is imperative to incorporate technology into lessons to encourage
advancement in the use and understanding of the programs, to further ones own ability to use
technology in a positive manner reflecting their understanding that technology is ultimately a
tool used to help them succeed. These standards make it very apparent that technology is ever
evolving and that students ability to us that technology sufficiently and appropriately is just as
important for their success.

Objective: The students should be able to collectively understand the use of technology in order
to correctly complete assignment. This includes, but is not limited to: video recording + editing,
Word Processor and proper downloading procedures. This will be done by incorporating modern
day understandings of the Shakespeare reading MacBeth, and using that to successfully complete
the Group Project.
Materials Needed:
1. Projector Screen
2. Video Recording Material
3. Computer
4. MacBeth Literature Material
5. Word Processor Program
!
Suggested Group Size: 4-5 Students in Each Group | Group Assignment

!
Procedures: Class Time 60 Minutes
!
10 Minutes | 1. Take Attendance (Roster Located in Attendance Binder)
2. Pledge of Allegiance and Opening Announcements (Provided by School on
Overhead Projector).
3. Introduction to todays lesson
!
!
!
10 Minutes | 1. Explanation of Assignment
!
Instruction: As we come to the end of reading MacBeth, you will now for small groups with you
classmates (4-5 Students per Group). In each of these groups you will collectively collaborate
and brainstorm ways to create a 5-10 minute long video depicting a modern rendition of a scene
from the reading MacBeth. You will be graded on creativity and completion of the project, as
well as be graded accordingly from your group mates on dedication and assistance with the
project as well. You will have two weeks to complete this assignment, and I will provide ample
amounts of class time as well. Each student in the group is also to write a 1-2 page summary of
the scene using Word Processor. I will check in throughout the week to calculate progress.
Your video must include every person in the group at least once, or if you are creating a
cartoon depiction, every person in the group must speak at least once throughout the 5-10 minute
cartoon depiction of Shakespeares MacBeth. At the end of the two weeks, we will dedicate a day
to reviewing and watching one anothers videos on the overhead projector and discussing the
specific scenes from the piece of literature that were chosen and how it accurately depicted a
modern day version of Shakespeares MacBeth.
40 Minutes | 1. This time is dedicated to students brainstorming together on ideas and creating
small groups to complete the assignment.
2. There are two computers in the room, groups can log on and use those to
research and cultivate ideas for project. They also all have approach reading
material to research for project as well.
3. Dismiss class, Write down groups by name before approving dismissal of class.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed + graded on this project at the end of two weeks. They will be given
points throughout the week for demonstrating improvement and dedication to the project. The
written 1-2 page essay provided from each student will assess personal knowledge of the
reading, and the group video will assess groups comprehension of a modern day creative
Shakespeare depiction.
If any student in the class misbehaves or disrupts instruction, please indicate name of student(s)
and I will follow up with them personally.
