Personal Profile

I can hands down say music is my number one passion. I recognised this
passion at eight years old when I got given my first piano by my uncle, who
never used it. I began to play around with it for a few months until I decided
I really wanted to get to know my way around the keys, so I started piano
lessons. Looking back to when I was younger, watching old home-videos,
you could tell I was a music fanatic. I was always standing up on a little
step with a toy microphone in my hand singing my heart out while my whole
family would watch. I loved the idea of being a popstar. I found music very
inspiring, and still do to this day. The lyrics, the sound - everything tells a
story, and a lot of it can help you get through each day with ease, in my
opinion.
There are various reasons why I decided to study music. Firstly, its my
passion and desire to achieve my dream of becoming a recording
artist/song writer. Secondly, its such a broad subject. There are many
routes you can choose in music, since its such a huge industry. Thirdly, I
love the challenge. Having the knowledge of music is not an overnight
achievement. It takes years of practise and learning. There is comfort in
learning instruments/music but along with that comes frustration and anger.
However, with hard work and dedication, it comes with great satisfaction in
the end. Once you reach the top of the ladder, everything feels worth it.
My strongest personal points are that I am hardworking, dedicated and
punctual. I am also very patient and a fast learner. I am able to take
critisism as I believe critisism is an important aspect in the music industry.
Without it, no one would be able to work on their weaknesses or improve in
certain areas. There would be no sense of direction given.
Since the music industry is so competitive, it is very important to keep
putting yourself out there and getting as much work experience as possible.
The more experience you have, the better and more opertunities you will
have in the future. In my experience, I have been to London to record a

song in a recording studio. It was a brilliant experience for me as it gave me

an idea of what it would be like to be a recording artist and working in the
studio all day. It helped build my confidence and gave me a better
understanding of all the techniques used during the process of recording.
In secondary school, I was given various oppertunities to perform my
passion. My music teacher was hard working and did her best to build our
confidence - which I used to lack in. She organised concerts in the hall and
performance days in class which came as a huge benefit to me. From that
year on, getting up on stage and performing never came easier to me. I
attended Calasanctius College in Oranmore from 2010 - 2015 and came
out with the following leaving cert. results:
Maths (O)
Irish (O)
English (H)
French (H)
Geography (H)

I chose this course here in GTI as it appealed to me very much. It

contained all the modules which I was interested in and wanted to learn
more about, such as sound production and communications. It gave me a
broad idea on the job oppertunities I could achieve from it and since then
Ive decided I will be attending Maynooth University next September.
