Course Description
Spanish II offers a further study of the Spanish language, its structure, and vocabulary. It continues to
acquaint the students with the culture and way of life of Hispanic people.
Course Objectives
The Spanish program is designed to guide students toward functional communicative proficiency while
developing a general insight into how languages work. The goal is to continue to equip students to function
in a Spanish-speaking culture, to use the language for a lifetime of personal enjoyment and enrichment, to
appreciate the role of Hispanic cultures in a global context, and to continue expanding their communicative
proficiency for further education or for the workplace.
Required Materials
1 3-ring binder with paper
2 number 2 pencils, blue or black ink pens
3 Red pens
4 Highlighters
5 1 box of Kleenex
6 Northridge planner for homework
7 Package of unscented dry-erase markers
8 Miniature dry-erase board
Course Outline
Students will complete Unidades 1-5 as time allows in Realidades 2, as well as Realidades 2 workbook,
and materials that may be assigned from other textbooks and library or internet research.
Grading Policy
Grades are based on a percent of maximum possible cumulative number of points. The grade is determined
by adding the total number of points a student received for the 9 weeks and dividing it by the total number
of points possible during that 9 weeks. There will be a comprehensive exam at the end of the semester.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend class in accordance with the attendance policy in the Code of Conduct. If an
absence is excused, quizzes and tests may be made up by appointment after school. It is the students
responsibility to make up work within five days of the absence.
Communication
Any student who is receiving a grade of F, or any other grades unsatisfactory to him/her, or who needs help
is welcome to meet with me after school. Parents may schedule a conference by sending me an email.
Classroom Etiquette
1 Be seated with materials ready by the time the bell rings.
2 Be polite and respectful to others.
3 Be attentive and ready to participate in class.
4 Refrain from eating or drinking in class.
5 Follow directions the first time they are given.
Special Accommodations
Any student with special needs will be provided any reasonable accommodations in accordance with
section 504 and The Americans with Disabilities Act.
