The 39th Battalion, Singapore Combat Engineers is the chemical, biological and r

adiological defence (CBRD) unit of the Singapore Armed Forces, formed to improve
the survivability of troops in a chemical warfare environments. It decontaminat
es incident sites that contain chemical or biological hazards and provides a sus
tained, multi-incident response capability. 39SCE works closely with Home Affair
s agencies to provide security coverage for significant international events.
39SCE is the chemical biological and radiological defence unit of the Singapore
Armed Forces. As a combat engineer in the unit, I am trained to respond to chemi
cal, biological and radiological threats and decontamination operations that inc
rease the survivability of troops in the event of chemical warfare. In peacetime
, we collaborate closely with the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide security c
overage for significant international events such as the Singapore Grand Prix an
d we are on standby 24/7 to respond to any chemical incidents.
