POULTRY VISIT IN BARANGAY

STO.NINO, TAYSAN BATANGAS

SITIO PALIGAWAN

It was July 21, 2015, Saturday at about 8:00 in the morning when we
went to ALPS FARM located at Barangay Sto. Nino Taysan, Batangas. A
developing community which you can see different farm around. Visiting this
place is a great opportunity for us to have an idea regarding about the poultry
farming techniques and the ways in considering taking care of chicks.
ALPS(Arcadio, Lontoc, Perez, and Son) is the farms name. The farm
started their production in the year 1998
It was then a simple farm having traditional equipments which are made of
bamboo. Their equipments are improvised only. ALPS FARM was owned by Mr.
Arcadio Perez Lontoc. As it continue to developed many changes happens.
Having technology advancements contribute allot to their farm. They have their
own improved equipments and facilities that are important.
ALPS FARM was supervised by Mr. Eddie Gunay who took BS Nursing
and residing near the farm. At first, he is not interested on it but he found out that
poultry raising is something relevant to what course he had taken. Thats why he

preferred to be a poultry raiser rather than being a nurse. He worked in Korea as

a caretaker of ostrich.
The farm was monitored by two-persons per building. They have five
buildings. They also have shifting, a person in-charge during daytime and night
time. All in all they have 11 workers including the secretary which is Mrs. Gunay.

We went first in Building C which is undergoing rehabilitation which cost 12
Milion. Mr.

Gunay oriented us the equipments they used in poultry raising. All of their

equipments are modern. Here are examples of these equipments:

Feeding Trough

Drinking Trough

Refrigerated Wall

Xylo

Cooling Pod

Dropping Board

Our next destination is on Building D where the broilers are located. There are
25, ooo broilers there, the two types of broiler are the Cobbs and Roost. We viewed the
chickens through viewing mirror but he gave us permission to glance inside the
complete confinement housing fixture. Mr. Gunay oriented us about them, when they
were young the temperature of their room is hot (30 C and above ) , and when get old
the temperature decreases meaning it is cooler (28 C and below). Their room is
surrounded by the cooling pad.

When the chicken rest in the horizontal bars called perches, the taker does not
meet the good quality of caring the chicken. The chickens were sick. One sign that their

chicken is in good condition or has a good quality of meat is that when they grew up
with few feathers. They give the chickens enough space so they can move freely.

after 28 days these chickens are going to haul by the San Miguel Corporation. The
disinfection of the housing fixture will consume for almost a week. The chicken will be
harvested for four-hours.
A good entrepreneur is a risk-taker and have persistence to do something to
satisfy others needs. If the production or the implementation of good quality of chicks
have met, you are capable of receiving the fruits of your business. It will take only 3
years to get back your capital. And if it is not, you are able to get back the capital you
had at about 5 years.
The ALPS Farm has the principle of What you give is what you get.
