They investigate different components of fitness, how these vary between
activities and how they contribute to the wellbeing of people at different stages
of their lives. Students learn to set personal physical activity and/or fitness goals,
develop an activity and/or fitness program and evaluate its success. They
investigate community facilities available for health and physical fitness
activities, engage in a variety of recreational and outdoor adventure
activities, and develop skills, knowledge and behaviours for enhancing safe
participation in these activities.

Cross Curriculum Priorities:


In Health and Physical Education, students develop a deeper
understanding of the relationship between the health and wellbeing of
the individual and the environment. They develop this understanding
through a range of activities including learning in, and about, the
outdoors; the creation of spaces for outdoor learning; active outdoor
recreation; active transport options. As such, they will gain a capacity to
advocate and act for a sustainable future.

GOALS Students are to investigate the Sustainability Initiatives in Health


and Physical Education and critically analyse the health initiatives and
apply to advertisement.
STUDENT LEARNING AIMS
1. Students can successfully identify sustainable Government
Initiatives in Health and Physical Education
2. Students are able to investigate the effects of the Initiatives on
the environment and health.

Students are then to discuss modes
of transport, which creates these

Set Up the classroom tables in squares to create a Jigsaw
learning environment. Students are divided into groups by
numbers 1-5 and are then divided again using letters A-E.
Students are to investigate a different initiative in the
group and are then to report back to their home group A-E
to discuss their findings.

Students are to investigate a given
topic in a group randomly allocated by
the teacher. Students are to then
collaborate in the group on the initiative
finding out as much information as

associated. Students are then to share
within there Home Team

Students will have 10 minutes to create


an advertising campaign for one of the 5
initiatives in their Home Team. Students
can be as creative as they like such as
making a poster, writing a poem, singing
a jingle or acting out a TV advert.
