Technique: puncture 0.1-0.2 cun to treat upper body, 0.2-0.3 cun to treat lower body, usually on opposite side
11 Region: Fingers
11.01 Da Jian (Big/ Great Space)
Location: palmar B line of index finger, halfway from PIP to MCP joints
Indications: HT disease, knee pain, hernia, inner canthi (usually for HT)
11.02 Xiao Jian (Small Space)
Location: palmar B line of index finger, the way from PIP to MCP joints
Indications: cough with yellow phlegm, bronchitis, chest stiffness, palpitations, knee pain, hernia, inner canthi (mostly for LU)
11.03 Zhong Jian (Center/ Middle Space)
Location: palmar C line of index finger, halfway from PIP to MCP joints
Indications: palpitations, chest stiffness, knee pain, dizziness, vertigo
11.04 Fu Jian (Floating Space)
Location: palmar B line of index finger, 1/3 the way from DIP to PIP joints
Indications: hernia, toothache, stomachache
11.05 Wai Jian (External Space)
Location: palmar B line of index finger, 2/3 the way from DIP to PIP joints
Indications: hernia, toothache, stomachache
Fu Jian and Wai Jian work together
For hernia:
Four Spaces (Si Jian): Da Jian, Xiao Jian, Fu Jian, and Wai Jian
Needle on opposite side
Retain needles for 10-20 minutes in adults, 5-10 minutes in children
11.06 Huan Chao (Return Nest/ Ovary)
Location: palmar E line of ring finger, halfway from DIP to PIP joints
Indications: gynecological problems (return functions to normal), vaginal discharge, infertility (with Fu Ke)
11.07 Zhi Si Ma (Finger Four Horse)
Location: 3 points on dorsal E line of index finger, each equal distance from DIP and PIP joints and one another
Indications: Rib pain, skin disease, sinusitis, ear inflammation, tinnitus, dark spots on face due to emotional upset, shoulder pain
Technique: 0.2-0.3 cun on all 3 points
11.08 Zhi Wu Jin (Finger Five Gold) or Zhi Qian Jin (Finger Thousand Gold)
Location: 2 points on dorsal E line of index finger, each equal distance from each other and PIP and MCP joints
Indications: LI/SI inflammation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, fish bone stuck in throat
Technique: 0.2-0.3 cun on both points
11.09 Xin Xi (HT Knee)
Location: dorsal A line of middle finger, halfway between DIP and PIP joints
Indications: Knee pain, weakness, and arthritis, shoulder and scapular pain, HT disease
Technique: 0.1-0.2 cun
11.10 Mu Huo (Wood Fire)
Location: dorsal C line of middle finger, on DIP joint
Indications and techniques:
For hemiplegia, 0.1-0.2 cun towards ring finger: 5 minutes for first time, 3 minutes 5 days later, and 1 minute 10 days later (dont
treat too many times)
For HT problems, push with angle of body of pencil
Wu Gong Xue (Kung Fu Point)
Location: next to fingernails
Indications: hemiplegia, finger or joint numbness or arthritis
Technique: compress

11.11 Fei Xin (LU HT)


Location: 2 points on dorsal C line of middle finger, each equal distance from each other and DIP and PIP joints
Indications: upper back, neck, spinal, low back, tailbone, and lower leg pain
Technique: towards ring finger
11.12 Er Jiao Ming (Two Corners Bright)
Location dorsal A line of middle finger, halfway between DIP and PIP joints
Indications: low back pain (usually acute), KD, nasal bone, flank, and behind eye pain, frontal headache
Technique: towards ring finger
11.13 Dan (GB)
Location: 2 points on dorsal A and E line of middle finger, halfway between PIP and MCP joints
Indications: palpitations, childs night crying, knee pain
Technique: 0.1-0.2 cun towards palm
11.14 Zhi San Zhong (Finger Three Weight)
Location: 3 points on dorsal E line of ring finger, each equal distance from DIP and PIP joints and one another
Indications: expel wind, Bells palsy, muscle atrophy, migraine
Technique: 0.1-0.2 cun
11.15 Zhi Shen (Finger KD)
Location: 3 points on dorsal E line of ring finger, each equal distance from PIP and MCP joints and one another
Indications: dry mouth, KD deficiency, upper back pain in scapular area, HT organ weakness
Technique: 0.1-0.2 cun
11.16 Huo Xi (Fire Knee)
Location: by corner of fingernail on dorsal E line of pinky
Indications: Knee pain, arthritis, rheumatic HT disease from phlegm obstructing HT, anxiety, depression
Technique: 0.1-0.2 cun
11.17 Mu Xue (Wood Point)
Location: 2 points on dorsal D line of index finger, each equal distance from each other and PIP and MCP joints
Indications: LV fire, LV qi stagnation, LV yang rising, LV qi overacting on SP, dry or watery eyes, sweaty hands, common cold,
crack, dryness, and roughness of palms or hands, runny nose, skin itching
Technique: 0.2-0.3 cun, often on lower point only
11.24 Fu Ke (Woman Department)
Location: 2 points on dorsal E line of thumb, equal distance from each other and IP and MCP joints
Indications: gynecological problems, menstrual disorders
Technique: 0.2-0.3 cun close to bone, towards palm
Fu Ke and Huan Chao always together (Dao Ma) and good for infertility: 1 needle on each hand, switch every time, and alternate
11.25 Wu Hu (Five Tigers)
Location: 5 points on palmar A line of thumb, each equal distance from IP and MCP joints and one another
Indications: pain management, bone problems and pain due to them, arthritis, bone spurs
Upper body 1-3, lower body 3-5
1 fingers and wrists (below elbow)
2 - Shoulders and neck (elbow to neck)
3 upper and lower
4 lower back, hip, limbs
5 below knee, ankle, heels, and toes
For ankle, use 4th and 5th points together
Technique:
Always needle 3rd point to support (Dao Ma)
Towards palm, 0.1-0.2. cun for upper body, 0.2-0.3 cun for lower body
For trigger finger, can puncture > 0.2 cun, and ask patient to move finger

22 Region: Palms and Dorsum


22.01 Zhong Zi (Heavy/ Double Kids/ Sons)
Location: on thenar, at crossing of palmar B line of thumb and C line of index finger, forms triangle with LU10 and Zhong Xian
Indications: upper back pain (especially between scapula and neck), common cold, asthma, pneumonia
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.6 cun towards dorsum
22.02 Zhong Xian (Double Immortal)
Location: on thenar, 1 cun below Zhong Zi, forms triangle with LU10 and Zhong Zi
Indications: upper back pain, pneumonia, fever, palpitations, knee pain, LU disease, scapular area
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.6 cun towards dorsum, can puncture deeper than on Zhong Zi, dont use too thin needles
Zhong Zi and Zhong Xian always together for upper back and neck pain and stiffness
22.04 Da Bai (Big White)
Location: LI3
Indications: pediatric asthma, ST problems, high fever in children, sciatica, LU problems, pneumonia
Technique: ask patient to make empty fist, and puncture perpendicularly close to bone, 1 cun for sciatica, prick to cause bleeding for
asthma, fever, and pneumonia in children
22.05 Ling Gu (Spirit Bone)
Location: at junction of metacarpals of thumb and index finger, below LI4, opposite of Zhong Xian
Indications: sciatica, low back, lower limbs, whole back, elbow, groin, and knee pain, migraine, dizziness, difficult labor, amenorrhea,
tinnitus, frozen shoulder, loss of appetite, indigestion
Technique: ask patient to make empty fist, and puncture perpendicularly 1-1.5 cun patient does ROM for sciatica, contraindicated in
pregnancy
Ling Gu and Da Bai together for tonify qi, abdominal distention, weak lower leg, and UTI (Dao Ma)
22.06 Zhong Bai (Middle White)
Location: SJ3
Indications: KD disease, water problems, low back pain and soreness, upper back pain, dizziness, sciatica, fatigue, edema in limbs
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun
22.07 Xie Bai (Lower White)
Location: Yaotongxue
Indications: LBP, lower limb, very sore toothache, sciatica
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun, usually support Zhong Bai (Dao Ma)
22.08 Wan Shun Yi (Wrist Normal Flow 1)
Location: SI3
Indications: dizziness, headache due to KD deficiency, sciatica, fatigue, LBP mostly on UB channel, KD inflammation, popliteal fossa
pain
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun, dont needle both hands together (L for males, R for females)
22.09 Wan Shan Er (Wrist Normal Flow 2)
Location: SI4
Indications: nosebleed, dizziness, headache due to KD deficiency, sciatica, fatigue, LBP mostly on UB channel, KD inflammation,
popliteal fossa pain
Technique: perpendicularly 1-1.5 cun

33 Region: Forearm
33.01 Qi Men (This Door/ Gate): 2 cun above LI5
33.02 Qi Jiao (This Corner): 4 cun above LI5
33.03 Qi Zheng (This Straight): 6 cun above LI5
Location: all on LI channel, each 2 cun apart
Indications: hemorrhoids, mostly LI problems, Ren and Chong channel disorders in women
Technique: obliquely upward 0.2-0.5 cun, all 3 together (Dao Ma)

33.04 Huo Chuan (Fire Stringing Together)


Location: SJ6
Indications: promote body fluid circulation, constipation, palpitations, local arm pain, rib pain
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun on same or opposite side with palm towards chest
33.05 Huo Lian (Fire Mound)
Location: 2 cun above SJ6, near SJ8
Indications: chest pain, fullness, and tightness, finger spasm
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun with palm towards chest
33.06 Huo Shan (Fire Mountain/ Volcano)
Location: 1 cun above Huo Ling, 3 cun above SJ6
Indications: chest pain, fullness, and tightness, hand or finger spasm
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun with palm towards chest
Huo Chuan, Huo Ling, and Huo Shan work together for SJ channel problems, constipation, chest pain, sciatica, can use 2 or 3 points
33.07 Huo Fu Hai (Fire Organ Sea)
Location: LI10
Indications: cough, asthma, common cold, sinuses, sciatica, LBP, dizziness, fatigue
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun
33.12 Xin Men (HT Door/ Gate)
Location: near SI channel, 1.5 cun below elbow, close to bone
Indications: HT problems, vomiting, soft tissue knee pain (on opposite side), sciatica, tail bone pain
Technique: 0.5-1 cun perpendicularly and close to bone
33.13 Ren Shi (Person Scholar)
Location: LU channel, 5 cun below elbow, 2 cun below LU5, 3 cun above LU6
Indications: asthma, finger, arm, and back pain (mostly upper back), palpitations
Technique: 1 cun
33.14 Di Shi (Earth Scholar)
Location: LU6, 7 cun above wrist
Indications: asthma, sinuses, early stages of common cold, headache, upper body disorders, back and arm pain, chest tightness
With Shui Jin and Shui Tong for coughs and asthma (all 3 can be together to treat LU)
Add Ling Gu with all 3 points for asthma
Technique: perpendicularly 1-1.5 cun
33.16 Qu Ling (Curve Mound)
Location: LU5
Indications: asthma, elbow pain and arthritis, palpitations, spasms
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun

44 Region: Upper Arm


44.06 Jian Zhong (Shoulder Center)
Location: LI channel, center of deltoid
Indications: shoulder and knee pain, skin diseases on back of neck, palpitations, nosebleeds, stroke
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun
44.07 Bei Mian (Back Face)
Location: LI15
Indications: shoulder pain, abdominal pain, distention, and fullness, bloating, excess/ acute sore throat, laryngitis, vomiting, diarrhea,
constipation
Technique:
Bleed for fatigue due to excess, abdominal pain with vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
Perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun towards deltoid, with arm abducted, for shoulder pain

44.08 Ren Zong (Person Ancestor)
Location: LI13
Indications: LI problems, lower leg, hand, and finger pain, common cold, asthma, elbow swelling and stiffness, edema especially on
limbs, LV, GB, and SP diseases
Technique: perpendicularly with thin needles, 0.5 cun for common cold and asthma, 0.8 cun for swollen limbs, 1.2 cun for LV, GB,
and SP diseases
44.09 Di Zong (Earth Ancestor)
Location: on LI channel, 3 cun above LI13
Indications: LI problems, palpitations, weak HT functions (bring yang back)
Technique: perpendicularly 1 cun for mild diseases, 2 cun for deeper and severe diseases
44.10 Tian Zong (Sky Ancestor)
Location: on LI channel, 6 cun above LI13
Indications: LI problems, gynecological problems, vaginal pain, inflammation, itching, and discharge (mostly heat toxins), lower leg
pain, diabetes
Technique: perpendicularly 1 cun
44.17 Shui Yu (Water Cure)
Location: SI10
Indications: KD inflammation and stones, low back and leg pain, whole body weakness, upper arm, wrist, hand, and fingers pain
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun, bleed for shoulder pain

55 Region: Plantar Surface of Feet


55.01 Huo Bao (Fire Wrapper/ Envelope)
Location: halfway between PIP and DIP of 2nd toe
Indications: HT pain, LV disease, retention of placenta, difficulty labor
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun or prick to cause bleeding
55.01 Huao Gu (Flower Bone)
Location: 4 points between 1st and 2nd toe, opposite to LV channel, 3rd point is opposite to LV3
Indications: 1 red and tearing eyes, eyebrow pain, 2 and 4 vertex headache, 3 LBP, sciatica, lumbar problems
Technique: perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun or prick to cause bleeding

66 Region: Dorsum of Feet and Ankle


66.01 Hai Bao (Sea Seal)
Location: halfway between SP1 and SP2 on A line (white and pin line)
Indications: shoulder and knee pain, skin diseases on back of neck, palpitations, nosebleeds, stroke
Technique: perpendicularly 0.1-0.3 cun, massage
66.02 Mu Fu (Wood Woman)
Location: D line and DIP of big toe
Indications: female problems with LV and emotions, uterine inflammation, Fallopian tube obstruction
Technique: perpendicularly 0.2-0.4 cun
66.03 Huo Ying (Fire Hardnes)
Location: 0.4 cun above LV2
Indications: LV fire, palpitations, dizziness from LV yang rising, uterine inflammation, lower abdominal problems, excess
Technique: perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun, can point towards KD1
66.04 Huo Zhu (Fire Master/ Governor)
Location: LV3
Indications: LV problems, headache, LV and ST diseases due to HT, excess and deficiency, lower abdominal problems (if with Ling
Gu, better than 4 Gates)

Indications: ST and Yangming channel problems, ST and intestinal inflammation, abdominal distention and pain

Location: 2 cun above Zheng Zong
Indications: soft tissue disorder, pain in upper back, around neck, and lumbar and sacral area, sciatica
Technique: 0.5-1.5 cun with 20-32 gauge needle
77.04 Bo Qiu (Catching Ball)
Location: 2.5 cun above Zhong Shi, close to UB57
Indications: nosebleed, lumbar and scapular pain, calf spasm
Technique: 1-2 cun with 20-32 gauge needle

Indications: Dao ma for HT disease, palpitations, dizziness, vertigo, limb pain, ST disease, blood circulations

Location: top corner of medial patella
Indications: KD problems
Technique: 0.3-0.5 cun
88.10 Tong Wei (Passing Through ST)
Location: 2 cun above Tong Shen
Indications: KD problems, stomachache, back pain
Technique: 0.5-0.8 cun

Indications: KD problems, back pain
Technique: 0.5-1 cun
