Essay Competition
For PGP 2013-15 & PGP 2014-16
THEME: 'Swachch Bharat'
(with specific reference to Sanitation, public hygiene and waste management)
Deadline: 30th September 2014

Rules and Regulations:

1. Each participant shall be permitted to submit only one individual entry.
2. Neatly typed essay should be submitted in soft copy (PDF and Doc) via e-mail
to : elixir@iimtrichy.ac.in
3. The essay should clearly suggest the long term sustainable action plans for cleanliness.
4. Both Font type and footnotes shall be in Times New Roman.
a) The font size shall be 12, with 1.5 line spacing, The margin of 1 inch should be left on
all four sides
b) The footnote font size shall be 10 with line spacing 1.
5. Only original essays will be considered for the competition. Any form of plagiarism will
result in disqualification of the essay
6. Length of Essay: The essay shall be no longer than 3000 words, footnotes included.
There is no down limit, although papers shorter than 1000 words are not encouraged.
7. Cover page should include name of the Participant, E-mail ID, Contact Number,
8. Citations: Participants may use any recognized style of referencing system and this
must be consistently used through the written submission. The List of References shall
include all cited texts throughout the Written Submission.
9. Scoring of the essay:

Content Originality: 55 %
Clarity: 20 %
Structure: 10 %
Overall impression: 15 %

The quality of language will not be a decisive factor, as long as the text retains its clarity
and coherence.
10. Prizes:
Elixir will honour each of the winners with cash prizes as under:
The winner of the competition: Rs. 3000/First Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 2000/Second Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 1000/All participants will be awarded a certificate of participation by Elixir.
11. Copyrights: Copyright in all contributions accepted will remain with the authors, and
they are free to re-use their own material.
12. The decision of the judges would be final and binding on all participants.
