1. Conduct a Market analysis for the proposed project.

i.
A market study should include the current situation (e.g. if the
proposed project is a business class hotel, it is necessary to collect
information about lodging facilities and conditions in and around that
area).
ii.
Collect all relevant socio-economic data. As an example if the proposed
project is a high end restaurant, spilt between households as lower,
middle and high income may be necessary. This is simply to check
whether the restaurant will have business. It is expected that students
do a survey in the study area by interviewing potential stakeholders
with a suitable questionnaire.
iii.
Demand forecasting. Use any method and calculate how demand
would change with time. As an example, for a high end restaurant, a
simple demand increase in a few years time is equal to population
growth of that area. However, it is obvious that corrections need to be
done for new restaurants start by others, etc. Other demand
forecasting methods include: chain ratio technique; end use technique,
etc. Select a suitable method for your case.
iv.
Consider any other relevant information: such as government policies,
how to raise funds, etc.
