Religion: We are practicing our prayer manners

each day. We read about going to Mass and the
things you can find inside of the church. On
Thursday, we looked for things that make our
church special. We went to church for Mass on
Thursday morning.

*Nightly homework begins on

Tuesday. Please bring the planner
book and take home folder to school
each day.

Reading: We are working in the first book titled

Welcome Back, Superkids. We are identifying
beginning, ending, and vowel sounds in words. We
practiced spelling groups of rhyming words.

*Picture Day is Wednesday. Please

return your photo order to class by
Wednesday. It is an out of uniform
day. Dont forget gym shoes for gym
class.

Math: We are practicing using math vocabulary

words to name the parts of an addition sentence.
We are using counters, connecting cubes, and are
drawing pictures to help us answer math problems.
We are using a bar picture to help us plug in the
information given in a word problem. This week,
we practiced finding the sum of the addends in an
addition sentence.

Science: We are reading about using our senses.

We will begin working on a booklet about the 5
senses in class next week.

Parent Night
Thank you for coming last night. It was great to
meet all of you. I am looking forward to
working closely with each of you as the
school year progresses.

Star Students
This week, we wrote about 3
things that we like. Some
students wrote about favorite
things to do, favorite foods,
and favorite places to visit.
Each student drew a detailed
picture of themselves. After
coloring it, the children
labeled their drawing when
they neatly printed their
names under the
picture.
