Liebherr supplies a large

crane with 3,150 mt load

moment to Daewoo
Shipbuilding Ltd. in Korea.

Constructing a giant crane.

Daewoo-Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (South
Korea) placed an order with Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH for
the supply of a large 3150 HC 70 crane for stationary application at a Korean shipyard.

In order to handle large prefabricated ship components, this

crane will have a load moment of 3,150 mt.
To suit local conditions, on the one hand, the crane has to run
on rails and, on the other, allow large HGVs to pass through as
part of a cross-trafc ow. This calls for a gantry with 12 x 12 m
supports and a headroom of 9 m.

Dimensions.
The complete crane which will be permanently installed on a
gantry weighs 570 tonnes. It has a hook height of 45 m and a
maximum working radius of 60 m.
Its maximum lifting capacity at 60 m working radius is 55 tonnes
in 4-fall operation what corresponds to the weight of approx. 43
VW Golf cars.

Follow-up order for an additional large 4000 HC crane.

Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH has been recently awarded an
additional order to build an even larger crane: a giant crane with
4,000 mt load moment the 4000 HC 70 crane which will be
used at the same shipyard.
