Identifying What Creates it

Handout Get your Grip
Internal Stressors forces that come from within, such
as personal goals, expectations, perceptions, desires, etc.
Internal stressors are generally self-induced.
External Stressors forces from the outside world that
stress you out.
External stressors are generally out of the users hands,
making it much more stressful.

Ways to deal with stress.

Plan, Plan, Plan Be prepared. Be aware of what you need to do and

when.
Avoid over scheduling Know when too much is too much.
Be real Realize when its important and when its just little stuff.
Get good rest Sleep does good for EVERYONE.
Relax Know ways to calm yourself down.
Your body is your best friend Take care of yourself inside and OUT.
You are what you think How we choose to think, affects the way we
act.

Childrens Stress
Children get stressed?
Life can be more stressful for kids because
they do not have access to all the resources adults do
in relieving stress.
Examples to think about.
Sources of Stress: home, community, school and
community violence, self.

Ashleigh

As parents, what can we do?

Be a role model when children see their parents doing

healthy things to relieve their stress, the message is clear, It

is important to take care of yourself.
Do things as a family family outings are predictable and
consistent. This provides a sense of repetitive comfort.
Praise, praise, praise!!!
Encourage self expression and accepting differences
Massage physical comfort can really help.
