AUDIENCE REVIEW OF COMPASS FESTIVAL 2010

Compass once again put on an eclectic and seductive night of entertainment that would not
have been out of place at a back street bar in Paris or New York. These two nights included a
selection of bizarre and beautiful acts from burlesque dancing to live Irish folk music. All set
against the backdrop of the upper level of the Trinity centre which still holds on to its
ecclesistical architecture - both nights had a very atmospheric sensuous feel.

The church itself had been totally transformed to fit in with the theme of desire which
provided an activity in itself, exploring the hideaway booths and installations designed by
Compass’s creators as well as local artists. The installations included a confession booth
where one could write down their deepest secrets for all to see, to a keyboard where each
note blasted out an orgasmic sound.

The evenings were a hub of interactivity. It was so different to any other night out I have
been to in Bristol and drew a very good crowd, who made an equal effort in their outfits,
one night burlesque and the next 1920’s America. At just 4 pounds to get in the audience
we’re offered a lot!
