Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can you represent and compare integers?

A: You can represent and compare integers on a number
line. Negative integers are to the left of 0. Positive
integers are to the right of 0. Numbers farther to the
left are less than numbers farther to the right.

+10 +15 +20 +25 +30

For example, 30 25 because 30 is to the left

of 25.
5 10 because 5 is to the right of 0 and 10 is to
the left of 0.
Q: What are the rules for order of operations?
A: These are the rules for calculating with mixed
operations so that the result is always the same.
Do the operations in brackets first.
Next, divide and multiply from left to right.
Finally, add and subtract from left to right.
For example, calculate 2 (9 3 1) 13.
