Equality is an existence that society today wished lived upon. The thought of men and
women having the same rights is something that every human has fought for. In reality, maybe
the fact that we do not have equality is the real meaning of freedom and democracy. Fight for
what makes our government the way it is today, the way people stand up to what we believe is
right or wrong without having to be incarcerated. Sometimes being a specific gender may mean
having less rights or having other people views be way different than what is expected. Maybe
not being equal is what is best for society today and many more generations coming. In the short
story of Harrison Bergeron, he talks about how in later years winning the right to have equality
in our nation might not be something that the people expect it to be.
Believing that someday all humans can be viewed as equal may mean less for human
rights. In another words, maybe being equal can lead to the government having more power over
the nation. It may affect the people by not having the right to think on their own or to view things
in a way that would question the government or their authority. Which means no one can be
smarter than someone else or no one can have better looks than others. When it comes to the real
meaning of equality every human is literally equal, no one would be better than another.
In Harrison Bergeron short story he states how people who were good looking or had
more knowledge than others were known as handicapped people. He states, And George, while
his intelligence was way above normal, had a mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required
by law to wear it at all times. Having no control on what your own brain thinks is something

that may be shaped by the government if everyone becomes one. Placing a device against the
peoples will is something that is going to be forced on because the way we think is something
that may be controlled. Having too many laws can affect society in a negative way by making the
people become the same and no one would actually make a difference other than the
government.
Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send some sharp noise to keep people
like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains. Equality does not mean the people
have freedom. It means that the people are becoming people of the government. Not being able
to fight for what may be wrong from right because it may lead to breaking the law.
This all can relate back to society turning into cyborgs. Being taught to view things but
not really knowing the real story behind everything. Cyborg identity can be defined in various
ways. One being Digital culture and another being pure information. Allucquere Rosanne Stone
argues that technology has no force outside a system of social practices. Meaning that if
society learns how to accept the advance practices technology is giving today then something
good can and will be made out of it. It can help by giving the right to the justice the people
actually deserve.
Technology is being something that is so underestimated. As young teens, teachers,
parent, theorists, already seem to give the idea that technology is something that only has
negative outcomes but in reality its the definition that is given. Some people have different
views on every subject. Others believe that society is affected into a way that cannot be saved.
Technology and equality can be both tied together. Society believes that if we have the
right to be equal then we have the right to think on our own and society would be one. The truth
is that society is not looking for equality what is being searched is in reality justice. Government

just needs to step up in some situations. The people do not want equality, the thought of having
justice is something that is always misunderstood. Having the government not act on their
responsibilities they should act upon makes us believe that we do not have equality but instead
what we really do not have is justice.
Technology is advancing in ways that society can use to help shape society and change
the people views that society is not looking for equality instead justice is being searched for
because if we want equality what good what we get out of it. The right that everyone is equal in
every way and no one can be themselves because if they do the government would take it as
breaking laws. If we want technology to stop advancing because of the fact that we have views
that are negative and seem scared that it can change us, the people can change it around we can
get the justice that we want and deserve. I believe that we have different views on equality. We
do not really understand what equality is. We all have different views on our society. We all
believe that it can be fixed but it takes one person to actually step up to the plate and fight.
Equality does not mean that every women would be viewed the same way as men. That women
have the right to work in the same areas as men. That again is not equality thats justice. Justice
on the fact that we constructed this view that women are seen as less.
I guess what society is really looking for is in next generations to help fix the views that
are on women. I believe every women is the same as man. Not every part may be the same but
our knowledge and potential may even be equal or more than man. Every ethnicity should share
the same justice as another. Meaning no skin color defines who you are. I believe this connects
back to society today because the people are not really looking for equality but instead looking
for the justice the people deserve. People are scared to let their kids grow in a society of hatred
but in reality its up to society today to change many perspectives.

In conclusion, equality might not be the best for the society. It may lead us to give up our
freedom and democracy. Technology is a way of us fixing and shaping what we the people
believe is right for us. It can be used my showing videos and the way its intended to help to
change society into better. Harrison Bergeron in his short story reflects back to society today and
how we are fighting for the right to be equal but at the end of the day if we all become equal then
we all become slaves of government.
