Thiscourseaimstoprovidestudentswithopportunitiestobecomeengagedinthepoliticalprocessbylearning
theknowledgeandpracticingtheskillsnecessaryforactivecitizenship.Contentspecificationsarenotincluded
sothatthecoursecanadapttopresentlocal,national,andglobalcircumstances,allowingteacherstoselect
flexiblyfromcurrenteventstoilluminatekeyideasandconceptualunderstandings.Participationingovernment
andinourcommunitiesisfundamentaltothesuccessofAmericandemocracy.

HowWeLearn:FlippedClassroom
Theflippedclassroomisapedagogicalmodelinwhichthetypicallectureandhomeworkelementsofacourse
arereversed.Shortvideolecturesareviewedbystudentsathomebeforetheclasssession,whileinclasstime
isdevotedtoexercises,projects,ordiscussions.Studentswillbeexpectedtowatchthevideolecturesathome
andcompleteguidednotes.Studentswillbeexpectedtocompletedailyquizzesafterwatchingtheassigned
video.

GraduationCeremonyEligibility
PerNYCDOEpolicy,middleandhighschoolstudentsmustmeetpromotion/graduationrequirementsto

suspensionatthetimeofthegraduationorothercommencementrelatedactivitiesmaybeprohibitedfrom
