Step 1: Restate the Standard
The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues. It is important that I as a future educator know how to collaborate with my colleagues in order to compose the most relevant and engaging learning activities as possible so that highest levels of student learning are obtained. Step 2: Identify your Artifact (the Website screen shots, link, or collaborative lesson plan) This SmartBoard lesson plan was an interactive presentation. I collaborated with three future educators all specializing in different areas. This artifact was created in the Fall of 2015 as required by my Educational Technology course at East Central University.
Step 3: Purpose of the Standard
It is important that I as a future educator am able to understand the importance of collaboration among my colleagues. Ensuring that I am able to gain various perspectives on how connect concepts in order to boost student learning. Enabling myself to better engage my students through their process thinking critically. Step 4: Analysis of the Artifact While creating the interactive presentation, I was able to collaborate with future educators from three other majors. The first problem we were faced with solving was what subject do we want to cover, due to our vastly differing subject areas. Doing so I was able to share ideas to engage students in our lesson. In addition I discovered mobile learning web-sites that further student learning. We worked together in such a creative way that allowed us to combine our viewpoints in order to achieve the most efficient student learning. The collaboration was important in order to best meet the needs of our students.
