As time goes by, the ideas and opinions of most people have the tendency to modify
overtime. A couple of years ago , gays and lesbians were cruelly intimated for their sexual
preference by society. In fact, many homosexulas never even mentioned anything about their
harsh situation, while taking the secret of being gay or lesbian to their deathbeds. Today,
homosexuals are a lot more open and transparent in society. They obtain the desire to be treated
as normal people, which includes their ability to marry the person they choose and eventually
construct their own families. However, their braveness to confront society does not mean that
society itself is ready for such a dramatic change to take place.
We all know that, through the advancement within the technology, the opportunities for
lesbian and gay people to make a family have expanded; One specific technique is adoption.
There are 16 states in the United States of America that definitely allow joint gay adoptions,
while the other 34 are undecided or against this regulation. Proponents of the same sex adoption
issue believe that there are many infantils who are in desperate need for love and affection and
that most gay couples are truly intered in giving their adoptive children the healthy lived that
they deserve. On the other hand. opponents of the same sex adoption controversy state that it
would be unhealthy for the adopted infantils to be raised by same sex parents because they would
be a bad influence in the life of the child.
Currently, there are 20 countries worldwide in which full joint adoption by lesbian or gay
couples of officially legal. Therefore, there has been an opportunity to analyze the performance

of same-sex adopted children all around the world. It is proven that overall, the children raised
by homosexual parents tend to have normal emotional and physical healthy lives. I am absolutely
convinced that homosexual couples should be given the opportunity adopt. This type of
reformation would benefit both couples who want children in their lives and the infantils who
need to be loved and protected.
It is essential to recognize that, as human beings, we have the obligation to get involved
in things that makes us happy. In fact, Judge Carlton W, Reeves of U.S. District Court claims
that, ...Mississippis ban was unconditional while taking away fundamental rights owed to every
citizen (Lewin). The sexual orientation of any human being is her/ his decision, but this has
nothing to do with being a good parent. Our society needs to understand that our focus should be
on the wellbeing of the adopted children; It would be ethical to give the opportunity to gays and
lesbians to be individually identified as people that will dedicate himself or herself to be a good
parent for the child being adopted.
In reality the children carry within them their own unique personality, but it is the ways
that the parents raise them that really make the people who they are. Australia's University of
Melbourne recently conducted a study of health and wellbeing of children raised by same sex
parents. This study found that, Gay couples are often more equitable when it comes to things
like child-rearing, household chores, and overall relationship maintenance and this has positive
results for the children raised in these environments(Corregan).
