As I write this essay, I can recall as a child that my parents always encouraged me to get an
education. Since I could remember, I always had a passion for learning new things and teaching others.
As a student at Ashford University, I am continuing to build upon that passion. I am currently enrolled in
the Bachelors of Arts program for Early Childhood Education, and I can finally see the end of the road. I
am currently in my last semester of school and two classes away from graduation. Unfortunately, I have
exhausted all of my financial aid options. Being a single parent and working full time to provide for my
daughter and I has been a challenge, nonetheless, I havent allowed this to deter me from my dream.
Being awarded this scholarship would mean the world to me. Throughout my educational career, I have
come across many road blocks such as health issues, death, and financial hardships. However, I have
persevered despite the obstacles that Ive encountered. Being awarded this scholarship will allow me
the opportunity to graduate the program that Im so close to completing. This will allow me to apply for
a teaching position that will provide more financial support for my daughter and I. Being afforded this
scholarship will also contribute to my passion of working with young children, which allows me to help
mold the minds of our future generation.
