A Hungarian nomenee for the about People by people competition.
The aim of competition is to support activities devoted to public participation in regional development, protecting the environment, exercise principles of Local Agenda 21 and perpetually sustainable development in
cooperation with public and non-state non-profit organizations (NGOs).
Another reason for holding the competition and sequential conference is meeting of successful projects where officials and representatives of towns are sharing their experiences from problem solving and cooperation with NGOs. At present we are trying to extend this sharing of experiences also at international level of Visegrad countries. This project was put together in cooperation with
Czech Republic Government weekly magazine “Public administration” and partners from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

- NGOs could apply for the support of the local
municipality since 1998 - Decision was made „ad hoc” - A need emerged for an expert committee who could assist in the decision making process Introduction of the project - 2005: An Evaluation Committee has been established from local NGOs to assist in the decision making process - The Committee has been elected for two years period - The role of Mr. György Hunvald the major of the district was very positive in this process - Local government – NGO co-operation started on the long run Start of the project • Starting point: NGOs from the district Erzsébetváros – at least 20 civil organisations – initiated the project
• 41 NGOs has put candidates for the Evaluation

• Other 21 NGOs outside the Association have
joined to the initiative Responsible persons for the project
