Blog #4: Making Connections
In all honesty a few years ago social media was great to me. I loved
tweeting funny things, snapping friends and posting on Instagram. One day
however I noticed the misconceptions these social medias can prevent. My
family and I were having a bad day and no one was getting along. We went
to a Charlotte Knights game and we all had a horrible time. However my
mother posted a picture on Facebook saying "we had such a great family
night". Her friends commented and liked so she took satisfaction even
though the night was horrible. As the months pass Ive realized how stupid
social media can be. I had a girlfriend once that never took compliments in
person but would rage if I didn't like her pictures on Instagram. Things like
this have driven me crazy. I prefer in person reaction with people and if
thats not possible I really prefer the phone call. At least in a phone call
emotions can be captured and sarcasm can be easily explained.
I miss the days when friends would rather hangout in a group instead
of being in a "group chat". Some people out there still think were good

friends because they randomly notice its my birthday every March 4th.
Social media can be a great outlet for news and entertainment but I challenge
some of you to delete the twitter and snap chat for a month, and see how
many people actually care about what is going on in your life. I did it and I
thought I had ten close friends turns out I truly have three.
