-NEEDS ASSESSMENTPROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR (1)

Why?
Importance for academic success and
being a positive contributing citizen

-NEEDS ASSESSMENTPROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR (2)

What?
Survival skills are learned instead of
prosocial skills (life skills)

-NEEDS ASSESSMENTPROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR (3)

How started?
Children raise/rear themselves, and have
little playful interaction with family members;
as a result, they have less experience and
chances to build vocabulary and phonological
skills.
There is a lack of opportunities for building
positive problem solving skills at home
Children see adults verbally argue and
physically fight, and think these are
acceptable way of life. They think survival
instincts and antisocial behavior as normal in
their environment.

10

-NEEDS ASSESSMENTPROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR (4)

Who?
Decrease in parental involvement in
schools is one contributor to low
academic performance;
Parents lack parenting skills; more
demands- home responsibilities-more
stress and tense with little or no time for
play, jobs, feelings of inadequacies

11

FACTS
It is COMMUNICATION
SKILLS
-and NOT MONEY
that keep one in poverty.
